The role of the Change Manager is a key member of the TRAC Information Technology team with primary responsibility of defining and implementing a change management process.  The Change Management process must include procedures for submitting, reviewing, categorizing, approving, communicating and documenting changes and change related activities while working with stakeholders to ensure the clarity and readiness of each change request.  The Change Manager is also responsible for building and maintaining a configuration management database (CMDB) to utilize when determining the impact of new changes and/or upgrades to our IT systems are managed in an effective way to ensure changes meet the desired business outcomes with minimal disruption to the day-to-day operations of our production systems. 

This candidate must have a focused approach to evaluating our current practices to develop a Change Management process that can be implemented in an efficient manner.  The Change Manager will also have oversight and accountability for the levels of compliance with the Change Management process and for the alignment of the Change Management and Release Management processes to ensure production releases are highly successful. 


  • Defines the Change Management process, standard operating procedures, templates and checklists
  • Evaluates current IT practices to ensure the requirements of the Change Management process are developed with consideration to the goals and objectives of our organization
  • Drives the adoption of an ITIL based Change Management process
  • Implements and runs the Change Advisory Board (CAB), which provides input into the decision-making process for new and completed changes, emergency and scheduled changes, and to prioritize and assess the impact of all submitted change requests eligible for a production release during each scheduled meeting
  • Analyzes change requests to ensure adherence to the SDLC and meets the acceptance criteria of the Release Management process
  • Manages risks and resolves issues that impact the release schedule or quality of the changes included in the release
  • Works with all teams to drive continuous improvements to change and/or release procedures
  • Establishes a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process to coordinate with all active participants in the SDLC process to determine what factors contributed to a failed release and/or reports of new incidents related to changes released into the production environment
  • Performs post deployment review after all production releases are completed and coordinates the RCA process as needed
  • Identifies and participates in capturing the interdependencies between all configuration items to build and maintain a CMDB to facilitate the effective evaluation of the impact and risks associated with each change request both independently and collectively
  • Trains and supports software development teams in the practice and use of the Change Management process and tools
  • Provides metrics on the adherence to the Change Management process and the impact of the reported level of compliance


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with the implementation and practice of a Change
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline Management process for large scale applications, ideally supporting an Agile development process
  • Understanding of version control systems (SVN, Git, etc.), including branching and merging strategies
  • Experience with SDLC process with a focus on building and deploying applications
  • Prior experience building and managing a CMDB
  • Highly organized and motivated
  • Strong verbal and written skills are a must
  • Focus on ensuring changes are fit to deliver solutions that enhance the end user experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with development/scripting (Perl, Python, NET framework, Java, PowerShell)
  • Curious and excited to try new and innovative technologies

  • Ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing using one-on-one contact, formal presentations, and/or group discussions
  • Availability to provide after-hours support as needed for emergency or urgent situations
  • Ability to recognize the appropriate style, level of detail, and message for the audience when communicating change management fundamentals, impact assessment, and other relevant information
  • Understanding of software build tools (Ant, Maven), continuous integration tools (Jenkins) and DevOps tools (Puppet, Ansible, and Docker).
  • Familiarity with the SDLC lifecycle for applications
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of configuration management principles
  • Passionate about continuous integration and delivery
  • Strong process and detail oriented mindset
  • Prior experience documenting processes and procedures
  • Should be detail oriented and have ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, and technical troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL Certification
  • Experience in Oracle, SQL Server, TFS and/or Jira
  • Experience using ServiceNow
  • Knowledge of SOX, PCI, and Segregation of Duties
  • IT Operations background is a plus
