Level 3 Communications
Applies a broad knowledge of DWDM technologies to planning and deploying optical equipment for large, enterprise-level customer networks. Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers while performing to the high Company standards for customer service. Works within a team environment and adapts quickly to change. Performs a wide spectrum of moderately difficult assignments requiring alternative analysis, innovation and judgment. Assumes all routine tasks for major or multiple projects and is periodically called upon to make on the spot decisions. May act as a team leader and mentor others.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Responsible for creating test procedures, reviewing network design documents, developing site documentation packages and troubleshooting deployment issues.
Provides technical design, test, and turn-up support, internally to field technicians and externally to customers or vendors.
Works collaboratively with stakeholders on project-oriented assignments to assist in the implementation of network deployments.
Assists with troubleshooting equipment, plans projects, and performs risk mitigation.
Knowledge of network design and engineering principles, theories and concepts with an emphasis on DWDM optical platforms, strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with Ciena optical products, a plus.
Willingness to be on-call and work outside of standard hours as required by management.
Strong analytical, problem solving skills and the ability to work independently required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Visio.
Ability to effectively, professionally and pro-actively communicate with front line employees, management and in rare cases, upper level management
Ability to pro-actively manage issues and drive resolution without receiving or receiving minimal direction from peers/management
Master of processes and systems that are used on a daily basis within the team
Ability to work within a team environment and be able to adapt quickly to change

Processes and finds solutions for customer or network capacity requests.
Responsible for validating network solutions to meet customer’s needs that are architecturally and financially sound.
Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of material through the production cycle.
Processes and designs groom orders for Engineering, Integration, Customer Held, etc. to migrate to a new system or path.
Designs, schedules and implements of low scope deployment projects from start to finish
Determines material requirements from engineering and production schedules.
Minimum skills required to perform in this role.
Education Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or 5 plus years of relevant job experience. Relevant job experience is described as:
