Sustaining Engineering Team – Principal Analyst (Principal Software Engineer)
As part of the Sustaining Engineering Team, successful candidates will work with customer care and when necessary, directly with customers, to troubleshoot software issues and move customer reported issues to development. Candidates will be able to work comfortably with Kingdom users, customer care and development.
As part of the Sustaining Engineering Team:
Manage customer issues reported from customer care.
Work with customer care to research workflows that replicate bugs.
Work directly with customers to troubleshoot the Kingdom software, identifying problematic data and workflows.
Maintain relationships with customers, reaching out when necessary to communicate new bug-fixes and features.
Apply both Kingdom and geoscience knowledge to customer questions, and work with customers to provide workflows or work-arounds that meet their needs.
Where necessary, work with product managers to categorize customer issues as future enhancements.
Maintain a record of customer issues escalated and their disposition from SET.
Assist in generation of weekly status reports.
As work is performed, update customer issues in the shared Customer Relationship Management system [CRM].
Create and document bugs in Microsoft Team Foundation Server and provide updates to customer care and users through email, telephone and CRM as needed.
Provide reports as needed to the product management organization.
Work with development, to prioritize and assess risk when selecting bug-fixes for the regularly released hot fixes.
Bachelors and/or Masters in Geology and Geophysics, related field or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience in Geology and Geophysics.
3+ years working with IHS Kingdom or equivalent software package
In-depth understanding of one or more Geology and Geophysics applications.
Knowledge of data loading, including SEGY, horizons, faults, well information etc., and common problems experienced
Thorough knowledge of typical geophysical and geologic workflows in one or more drilling regions.
Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 and Microsoft Management Studio Express.
Oracle SQL Developer, SQL*Net or equivalents.
Professional certification as warranted.
Reports directly to Sustaining Engineering Team leadership.
Interacts with customer care, QA, development and product management throughout the Company.
Interacts with other colleagues at all levels in the conduct of day-to-day activities.
Frequently interacts with end users and their representatives.
Actively participates in industry forums and user groups.
