We are seeking a Head of Advanced Data and Analytics to build our future data platforms. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding leader who can leverage their quantitative expertise and product vision to help lead and grow this new team. As the leader of this team, you will articulate a vision for the advancement of data practices and analytical capabilities at OCLC and work with your team along with our Development, Technology, and Product teams in executing toward that vision. In addition to focusing on solving traditional and big data problems, this role will be responsible for our Data Management & Governance programs, Data Architecture & Modeling, and the overall data footprint. Responsibilities: * Lead our team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and other data roles to help uncover actionable insights about our business, product, and customers and communicate those insights to key stakeholders * Drive the vision and execution of a strategy that leverages data science and artificial intelligence (specifically machine learning, neural networks, and natural language processing) to optimize the performance of our platform, business, and customers * Establish a long-term data platform roadmap across the technology and business landscape * Define and champion data strategy, lead the adoption and implementation of data technologies for high volume data * Design and coach development teams to deploy and maintain highly scalable systems, tools, and processes that are necessary to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization * Optimize our data science and artificial intelligence capabilities to facilitate the rapid identification and evaluation of new modeling paradigms, partnering with our development and product organizations to see them into production * Drive innovation by developing new analytical techniques by mining new and existing data sources * Grow the Advanced Data and Analytics team by hiring talented individuals and developing deep expertise in the teams Requirements: * Minimum of 5 years of industry experience and expert knowledge in big data, data science, analytics, and/or machine learning * 3+ years of experience as a Data Science, AI/ML, or Analytics leader, including building and scaling an innovative, high-performance teams of 10+ * Hands-on experience in building large-scale data products and systems * Ability to communicate complex data solutions across the company, and to coach the team in connecting data science problem-solving with product development * Preferably an advanced degree in an applied quantitative discipline (e.g., Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics) * Proven track record of strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams across the world * Affinity for science and the scientific discovery process with proven adherence to standard methodologies around development and data science Technology * Big Data platforms – Hadoop and HDFS, preferably in the Cloudera ecosystem * Flume, Kafka, Spark, Flink * Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica or Talent * Search platforms such as Solr would be a plus * Cloud-based AI/ML experience (AWS, Azure, Google) is desired * Familiarity with modern ML toolkits such as TensorFlow, Torch, etc. * Additional experience with leading ML, NLP, and other AI libraries a plus * Traditional DW and BI tools, as well as modern analytics architectures * Experience with web analytics, visualization, and other such tools is required * Previous experience building data and analytics pipelines is required * Lambda architecture experience a plus
