Position Title: IP NetworkSecurityEngineer Position Summary Member of small core network security team responsible for developing and implementing security policies and products, including: design, configuration, support and technical consultation, development of technical standards and interface applications for data networks. This position will support the following network security infrastructure; Firewalls, IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems) / IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) Protection Systems. Essential Job Functions * Researches, evaluates and recommends network cyber security-related hardware and software. * Performs periodic security assessments including but not limited to network scans, vulnerability/penetration testing to ensure that system, network and applications meet NEE cyber security standards. * Works with Fibernet Direct management to develop strategies and plans to enforce cyber security requirements and address identified risks. * Reports to management concerning residual risk, vulnerabilities and other cyber security exposures, including misuse of information assets and noncompliance. * Develops cyber security awareness materials and provides ongoing cyber security training to various levels of the business unit. * Interacts with customers and end users to gather information pertinent to the analysis and mitigation of DDoS and security threats. * Collaborates with IP engineering team on critical projects to ensure that cyber security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle. * Works with IP engineering department and members of the cyber security team to identify, select and implement technical controls. Additional Duties * Assists in developing a common set of cyber security tools and practices. Defines operational parameters for their use, and conducts reviews of tool output. * Performs control and vulnerability assessments to identify control weaknesses and assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and recommends remedial action. * Assists with risk assessment activities, analyzing the results of audits to produce recommendations of acceptable risk and risk mitigation strategies. * Collaborates with IP engineering teams to develop remediation plans addressing identified vulnerabilities. Definition and Implementation of Controls * Collaborates with IP engineering to define cyber security configuration and operations standards for cyber security systems and applications, including policy assessment and compliance tools. * Develops and validates baseline cyber security configurations for operating systems, applications, and networking and telecommunications equipment. * Ensures that network security appliances are up to vendor recommended operating specifications. Other Skills/Abilities * Provides second and third-level support and analysis during and after a cyber-security incident. * Assists cyber security SOC in the resolution of reported cyber security incidents. * Participates in cyber security investigations and compliance reviews, as requested by internal or external auditors. * Acts as a liaison between incident response leads and subject matter experts. * Monitors daily or weekly reports and analyzes cyber security logs for unusual events and trends. * Assists in the development of cyber security architecture and cyber security policies, principles and standards. * Researches, evaluates, designs, tests, recommends and plans the implementation of new or updated information cyber security technologies. * Researches and assesses new threats and cyber security alerts, and recommends remedial actions. * Participates in organizational projects, as required. Education/Certification * Bachelors Degree of Science or Engineering, technical degree or equivalent experience preferred * Industry certification in IP discipline (CCNA, MEF, Vendor Specific) preferred. * Industry Security Certification (CCNP, CCIP, Other recognized security certification) preferred. Experience/Minimum Requirements * Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with three (3) years of operational experience in applicable field, preferred Crown Castle is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
