The Relationship Manager in IT vendor management performs tasks and a combination of contract, relationship, performance and risk management with IT vendors. This role owns and must understand contractual, commercial and operational working relationships with vendors to ensure that contractual commitments are delivered across IT. The team’s responsibilities include negotiation, execution and management of extremely large, multi-year contracts with key strategic vendors. The total spend under management will be greater than $500M per year. A Day in the Life Establish, maintain and enforce policies, standards, processes and templates for working with vendors across global IT. Create contract, performance, relationship and risk management process. Classify, rationalize and optimize the global IT vendor portfolio, and concentrate efforts on managing strategic vendors. Evaluate, recommend and deliver improvements for IT vendor spending by category, cost center, region and vendor. Establish and maintain clear metrics across all key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure strong performance management of the VMO and the IT strategic vendors. Plan executive business review meetings between the vendors and IT senior level stakeholders. Lead the communications process with vendors through policies, procedures and measurements. Collect, consolidate and communicate detailed reports and key vendor data to stakeholders on vendor performance, risk and relationships. Foster analytics-driven decisions based on this data. Develop and maintain vendor scorecards and dashboards that present relevant data tailored to each audience. Address vendor management issues and disputes. Maintain/enhance tools for use in vendor management, including vendor tracking, analytics and performance management tools. Inform IT vendor managers/procurement and business operations about information gleaned from market investigation reports on sourcing methods, products and potential vendors, and while conducting vendor analysis. Provide financial viability, business continuity, and corporate and regulatory compliance. Assess and report on the risk level of vendors based on financial, skills, tools and the use of third parties. Provide appropriate support/training to internal staff that manage individual vendor accounts. Assist IT vendor managers and Procurement with vendor evaluation and selection criteria, procedures, and best-practice tools and templates. Provide oversight, guidance and support to procurement staff during negotiations with vendors to optimize the procurement of cost-effective acquisitions. Manage relationships with vendors for cost-effectiveness, build and maintain a main vendor repository to ensure effective contract management and vendor relationships, and plan for major software upgrades, ensuring that change management procedures/methodologies are used. Directs day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountability for deliverables across multiple internal and external stakeholders such as Business Development, Marketing, Clinical Research, IT, Advanced Analytics, Quality, Research & Development, Connected Care, Biostatistics, Regulatory, and external partners. Establishes meaningful metrics and tracks against them. Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting and issue resolution. Must Have: Minimum Requirements EDUCATION REQUIRED Bachelor’s Degree YEARS OF EXPERIENCE 5+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors Degree 3+ years of IT experience with a Masters Degree SPECIALIZED SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE: Experience in dealing with infrastructure, software or hardware products, and Vendor Service Nice to Have: Advanced degree: MBA/JD/PhD Influencing: ability to accomplish goals through influence across the enterprise Business-minded: ability to understand business challenges and opportunities Data analytics, risk management and financial competence Experience working with and influencing business executives Strong communication skills, including with employees, clients, senior management and vendors Strong results orientation, demonstrated by driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc. Global experience, inclusion and orientation Ability to work collaboratively and partner with employees, leaders, clients, and vendors Demonstrated ability to work in a virtual organization and still meet objectives Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Strong problem solving and decision making skills Presentation skills including the ability to translate technical information into business terms Demonstrated ability to work across many levels of an organization from VP to individual contributor PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
