HOW A JUNIOR NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Provides ongoing support for the functionality and efficiency of computer networks (LAN/WAN). Designs, installs, maintains, and coordinates the use of network systems. Monitors and manages data traffic/network performance and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission. Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network. Enforces security policies
  • Provides technical solutions in the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters, and servers
  • Evaluates existing network systems to ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements
  • Analyzes customer requirements to determine optimal network solutions
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network
  • Uses subject matter expertise to diagnose and solve issues and has authority to deviate from standard operating procedures
  • Creates, maintains, and deletes user accounts
  • Plans, installs, and maintains network systems for multiple classifications
  • May provide installation, maintenance and repair of network hardware and software
  • Develops and/modifies process and technical documentation. Creates back-up procedures, test plans, and related reports
  • Plans and diagrams the physical layout and location of devices and the connection between devices participating on the network
  • Evaluates and recommends networking product and software upgrades
  • Maintains operating efficiency and stability, and ensures the security and integrity of all systems and data
  • May function in a "Tier 3" support role, resolving the most complex network issues escalated by Tier 2 support

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent years of experience with relevant active technical certifications (e.g. RedHat, NetApp, Cisco, VMware, or Certified Administrator for Citrix ® NetScaler)
  • Required Skills
    • (2-4) years of experience with planning, designing, and installing Local Area Networks (LAN) to include Layer 2 and Layer 3 for Enterprise data center solutions using Juniper, Cisco, and Brocade networking equipment and Citrix load balancers
    • Must be able to work with oversite to execute against a set of requirements
  • Security Clearance Level:
    • MBI (obtain & maintain)
  • Location:
    • This position must be onsite for work that requires smart-hands in either College Park, MD or Boulder, CO, and hybrid at times

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $80,226 – $133,973. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
