Manager, Database Marketing Technology

The Manager of Database Marketing Technology is responsible for managing the infrastructure and staging environment of our DBM platform for both residential and b2b marketing. This entails managing staging controls, incorporating new technologies, and liaising with various tech teams: IT, BI, and Field Operations to bring projects to execute projects and keep abreast of data and technology changes that affect our marketing database.

This individual will help build and maintain proper staging controls utilizing exception based reporting and data trending to monitor the health of our marketing data on a daily basis to ensure variances are accounted for before campaigns are executed. This individual will utilize multiple data sources to optimize record level serviceability and provide insight into the validity of these sources over time. She or he will also vet primary keys and the underlying logic used to define best record, best address, and best phone numbers for our marketing campaigns.

This individual will assisting the vetting of old and new technologies, and incorporate them to enhance our platform, which will often translate into smaller data changes or process changes that have to be researched and coordinated with impacted parties for implementation schedules thus improving the efficiency of our operations and bringing incremental intelligence to our data.

This individual will also act as a liaison and a partner driving projects that interface with IT, Operations, Field Engineers, BI, Sales Operations, to ensure we have highest quality output and most updated data that will enable us to better target our campaigns and increase our marketing leads. This role requires a person who is curious and who will drive changes to a closing.


  • Manage and continuously improve data staging controls and audits to ensure we generate quality leads
  • Research and analyze data and existing processes to minimize discrepancies with external systems, minimize redundancy and increase efficiency
  • Work with external partners IT, BI, and Operations to drive technical projects, enhance our data feeds, ensure compliance with latest enterprise-wide changes and enhance processes to achieve highest data quality
  • Drive projects to completion and have a sense of urgency to execute tasks
  • Ability to document projects accordingly (project plan, BRD, SRD, Risks, issues, status and analysis reviews)
  • Utilize available and necessary database marketing tools, techniques and software solutions to support the creation of sound solutions for our organization
  • Translate high level business process design or redesign and document as needed
  • Develop and improve existing and ad hoc reports related to the data warehouse and data append processes
  • Maintain an enthusiasm for new technology and news data assets
  • Provide research support for our partners in Marketing, Sales, Marketing Sciences, and Operations
  • Co-manage vendor relationship with data append vendors

Skills /Abilities and Knowledge

  • Strong database technology understanding including Teradata, Oracle, and Billing Systems
  • Strong SQL skills and a deep understanding of database / data warehouse design and table relationships
  • Strong project management skills with ability to document every step and manage risks (MS Project plan, BRD)
  • Background in IT, BI environments are a plus
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Knowledge of campaign management or automated marketing tools (i.e. Unica, Aprimo, Epiphany, etc., Unica experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of cable television, high speed Internet and phone products and services preferred
  • Ability to conduct campaign performance analysis and communicate results clearly and concisely
  • Ability to multi task and work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to work well in a team and with people from different levels in the organization
  • Ability to show judgment and initiative to accomplish job duties

  • Bachelors Degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Business or related field
  • MBA /Masters a plus
