Network Engineer II

Charter Communications currently seeks a Network Engineer II for the Spectrum Enterprise Engineering -Managed Voice Services Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for operational readiness testing, product launch, and the day to day network operations nationwide for Managed Voice Services customers.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Troubleshooting of all IP routing, switching and managed voice services.

  2. Troubleshooting and response to network incidents and problems including after-hours support via on call rotation.

  3. Working with our internal customers to relay complex Operational needs to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable premise based services.

  4. Implement and troubleshoot PRI Trunks, SIP Servers and/or Broadsoft Hosted Voice infrastructure.

  5. Troubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to IP routing, switching and managed voice services.

  6. Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure as required.

  7. Participate in an established on call rotation.

  8. Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents.

  9. Implement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requests while adhering to existing network management change procedures.

  10. Review documentation via Salesforce, ICOMs, Remedy, Granite and other software tools.

  11. Monitor work queue as necessary while maintaining SLO.

Job Requirements:

  1. 1 – 5 years of experience in Telecommunications.

  2. 1 – 5 years in enterprise network design, implementation and operations.

  3. 1 – 5 years in Routing, switching and managed voice services.

  4. Working knowledge of network documentation using MS Visio.

  5. Must be able to analyze data and create reports based on data extractions.

  6. Strong oral and written skills.

  7. Strong leadership skills.

  8. Working familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols: RIPv2 and RIPng, and OSPF.

  9. Familiarity with IPv4 and IPv6.

  10. Understanding of popular network communications protocols such as SIP, DHCP, DNS, RPC, HTTP, SNMP and ICMP.

  11. Familiarity with Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1w and 802.1d), Trunking (IEEE 802.1q).

Preferred Qualifications:
Combination of the following

  1. Cisco CCNA R&S

  2. Cisco CCNP

  3. CWTS

  4. DEP

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
