Project Manager, Building Science Solutions As part of Intertek’s Building and Construction division, the Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is specifically focused on specialty commissioning, consulting, and testing for new construction and existing building projects. We are a diverse team of architects and engineers encompassing a wide variety of disciplines, licenses and expertise. With team members who have developed a number of specifications, industry guidelines and test methods, we are recognized leaders in the building industry. The BSS group provides professional consulting services for building enclosures, acoustics, technology, pavement and life safety systems including Design/Design Assist, Pre-Design/Design Phase, Construction Administration and Inspections, Specialty Commissioning, Performance Verification, Investigation and Forensic services, Property Condition Assessments and Accessibility Consulting. The Building Sciences practice within Intertek is seeking resourceful Architects and Engineers for our Philadelphia office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background and/or strong interest in building enclosure consulting. Responsibilities will include project management of small to medium-sized projects. The work will include building enclosure consulting for new design and adaptive reuse, and the evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings. Responsibilities and Duties: Staff First o Participate in our Stay Safe, Zero o Accidence Safety program, including training and certifications o Able and willing to work from ladders, elevated platforms, swing stages, and roofs o Participate in weekly One-on-One meetings; quarterly check-ins; annual performance evaluations o Ability and interest to obtain professional registration o Engage in continuing education opportunities o Participate in an industry organization(s) Team Drive o Contribute positively to team morale o Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with colleagues o Attend staff meetings and project review meetings o Ability to work independently and as part of a project team o Client Focus o Honor agreed upon deadlines; provide timely response and reporting o Listen and respond to client needs and expectations o Excellent organizational and project management skills o Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills o Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients o Provide innovative solutions Technical Based Leadership o Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications o Plan and mobilize for onsite investigations and diagnostic field testing o Organize investigation or research data to facilitate analysis; Research technical and code issues o Prepare sketches by hand and details and using AutoCAD or REVIT o Facilitate building enclosure commissioning (BECx) activities o Assist with new design consulting and peer reviews of plans and specifications for building enclosures o Perform initial review of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to the building enclosure o Assist with construction administration services, including mock-up testing and shop drawing reviews, and conduct factory inspections and site visits, and related reporting o Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements; Assist with reporting and remediation design of building enclosures Fiscal Responsibility o Work with SPM to deliver projects on time and within budget o Submit time cards and expense reports on time Qualifications: BS or MS in Architecture or Engineering, plus 3-8 years of industry experience Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local workload and project locations Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening Preferred Skills: Investigation of existing walls for leaks and other performance issues Familiarity with hygrothermal, building energy analysis software, and CAD/Revit Experience in difficult access/industrial rope access/rock climbing Familiarity with ASTM testing of exterior walls for air and water infiltration and mock up testing Intertek offers a salary and benefit package competitively placed within the local market.
