Job Location Hurlburt Field, FL Job Title: Field Service Engineer III, Mechanical Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer works with the engineering development team in all phases of the systems integration life cycle to design and integrate new and existing systems in support of Air Force Special Operations Forces in a fast paced exciting environment. There will be a particular emphasis on rapid-reaction engineering solutions to emerging requirements and operational incidents from fielded units. Duties and Responsibilities: * Supports complex Field Service activities in operating environments at depots, training sites, and customer field operations with training, operation or repair * Participates in mechanical engineering design decisions and assists in the development of mechanical requirements and structural analysis * Interfaces with subject matter experts including pilots, navigators, and mission support staff to assist in defining system architectures * Creates and maintains applicable mechanical design plans, schematics, mechanical analyses, test plans, test reports and test data * Performs technical tasks to design, document, and test mechanical components * Support resolution of technical issues; prepares briefings, cost estimates, metrics, and status reports to support project and team management * Attends technical and managerial meetings and reviews * Interfaces with component and system commercial vendors to design and/or purchase items that meet system requirements * Works at remote locations without direct supervision * Provides budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments * Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required * May participate in preparation of proposals * Provides technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel * Leads and directs the work of others as assigned * Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization Basic Qualifications: * Bachelors degree Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required; Masters Degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering preferred. * 5+ years related experience * Knowledge and skills to participate in analysis, design, development, and integration activities. * Experience in military or other aircraft/vehicle systems projects, including complex design and implementation. * Understanding and ability to apply engineering principles and methods to integrate and ensure interoperability of components and subcomponents. * Able to develop overall system power, weight, size, and interface requirements. * Able to perform Mechanical Load and Stress Analysis, Continuity Tests and Operational Tests and to prepare associated plans and reports IAW Air Force standards * Experience in preparing mechanical drawings using CAD Software and tools * DoDAF experience desired * Experience in preparing 3D models of mechanical systems and supervising the production of 2D assembly * Experience using SolidWorks analysis tools highly desired. * Experience using Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel required. * Able to prepare MS Office products required for formal design reviews and presentations. * Experience in assigning new aircraft reference designators for components and harnesses highly desired. * Must have the knowledge in verifying components meet MIL-STD. * Experience in obtaining MIL-STD testing for new/unknown components. * Experience in aircraft mechanical systems. * Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced high-demand environment. * Air Force and/or DOD background a plus. Security Requirements * Must have a Secret security clearance to start with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI) Physical Demands * Lift over 35 LBS * Must meet the minimal standards of fitness for deployment to the CENTCOM, PACOM and AFRICOM area of responsibility (AOR) Work Environment * Work environment is normally an administrative office but will require some on-aircraft. This work may require short-term TDYs to meet with users and/or perform aircraft analysis. * Must be able to obtain a passport for OCONUS travel, if required.
