Senior Controls Software Engineer (BiW)




Provide Controls Engineering Software design, debug, leadership and mentoring support to the organization. Successfully execute and manage multiple application projects as a Senior Controls Software Engineer.

Tasks:

*Support ABB North America installations of BIW (Body-in-White) applications/ systems.
*Engineer, Startup, Debug and Support involving PLC’s, Robots, and Electromechanical systems
*Manage technical solutions to minimize costs while maintaining reliability
*Provide industry specific application knowledge and direction
*Review requirement and design specifications
*Maintain Customer Specifications and Logging of Deviations
*Lead small teams or in house and contract engineers in software design, startup and debug
*Provide support for Product development and Support
*Develop tools and integration strategies to increase effectiveness and lower cost
*Investigate and suggest architecture and technology enhancements
*Assist in developing ABB Controls specifications for projects

Requirements:

Education & Experience Required:
*BS in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field preferred.
*Automated System Controls Software Design
*5 year minimum experience in related field

Preferred Skills:
*Advanced training, knowledge, and awareness in Automated Systems and Robot Applications
*Functional knowledge of Robotics and/or Automation
*Functional experience working with engineering design projects and machine startup
*Functional experience with Auto-CAD/ePLAN
*Experience with industrial control systems, specifically automotive BIW (Body-in-White) applications
*Understanding of resistance welding, body transport systems, processes and customer quality requirements
*Knowledge of safety standards including RIA/ANSI 15.06 and NFPA
*Functional Robot Electrical Maintenance Skills
*Functional Robot Programming Skills
*Competence in Software design involving control components:
*PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller)
*Rockwell, Siemens Step 7, Telemecanique, ABB
*HMI’s
*Rockwell Machine Edition, Siemens SIMATIC, Telemecanique Vijeo, Magelis, ABB
*Safety PLC’s
*Rockwell GuardLogix, Pilz, Siemens ProfiSafe
*Field BUS I/O
*ProfiNET, ProfiSafe, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiBUS, InterBUS, AZIBUS,
*RFID (Radio Frequency ID) tags (Interface, Reading and Writing)
*VFD and Servo Control
*Fluids (Pneumatic design)
*Welding applications
*Robot interface and control
*Power distribution and protection
*Familiar with US NEC, NFPA, UL, CSA, CE
*Familiar with Ford, GM, Chrysler drawing and software standards
*Ford Powertrain F.A.S.T. template experience preferred
