MDA US Systems, LLC, a division of SSL in Palo Alto, is an exciting and unique company which provides robotics, structures, mechanisms, and system engineering services for spacecraft and instruments. Job Description Essential Job Functions: Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Program Manager must: -Engage in satisfying and managing customer expectations -Ensure meeting all contractual requirements (technical, schedule, cost) -Apply continuous improvement to provide opportunities for revenue growth and margin expansion Duties and Responsibilities: In compliance with SSL and MDA-US policies and procedures, the Program Manager shall: -Delegate and oversee the design, fabrication, assembly, and testing activities of the project as applicable -Provide a product which meets the technical performance, cost, schedule and risk requirements -Apply technical knowledge and judgment in the conduct of the work. -Manage and implement risk mitigation plans -Perform risk/cost/schedule/performance trade-offs, and resolve conflicting considerations -Ensure necessary project related documentation is maintained -Manage customer and customer interface -Establish and maintain activity implementation plans and manage the performance against those plans -Coordinate review preparation, conduct and follow-up -Keep line management and those on the activity informed -Support MDA’s proposal activities -Provide project and technical leadership to project personnel. -Support line management in the safety of the product and personnel Requirements Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) -Technically oriented Masters of Engineering preferred -PMP certification is a plus -Management experience of government programs in the aerospace industry preferred. -Strong background in earned value measurement during program execution -Strong people skills with previous management experience preferred -At least 10 years related experience in managing projects or project elements with project budgets that range from $10M to approximately $30M per year requiring formal Earned Value Management System. -Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and other project related correspondence. -Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. -Literacy in MS Project as well as standard Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Use of MSProject with Earned Value module experience is highly desireable
