Our work depends on a Senior Windows System Administrator joining our team to support the Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) program in Falls Church, VA.

This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

To be successful in this position you need to be collaborative and willing to work within a team. While you will need to be a self-starter completing tasks on your own, working together is critical in this role. You will be interfacing with the client and senior staff. Therefore, you should be articulate in your communications because your opinion matters. You will need to explain technical intricacies in a way that is easily understood.

HOW A SR WINDOWS SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Provide Windows Server Administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Server Imaging utilizing SCCM / MECM
  • Responsible for applying Microsoft Windows workstation and server patches, hotfixes, and STIGs.
  • Responsible for applying 3-Party Application patches, hotfixes, and STIGs.
  • Responsible for STIGing and Patching of Windows servers for CCRI and ATO inspections / audits
  • Plans, assists in engineering and design, along with implementing future architectures changes, upgrades, expansion to modernize the capability to support emerging requirements and capacity needs.
  • Reviews requirements from customers and organization strategic initiatives such as expansion and move to Army Cloud Services and use of Azure Active Direction and Intune.
  • Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Performs In Place Upgrades as needed for servers.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Assist asset manager quarterly inventory or program workstations / peripherals and with RMA of bad hardware.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education/Equivalent Training Required:

  • High school diploma and 7 years of experience in IT. Preferred – Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of overall demonstrated experience as a Windows Workstation / Server Administrator

Required Technical Skills Requirements:

  • IT experience supporting large enterprise Windows workstation / server environment.
  • Experience with the installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Windows Servers
  • Experience with maintaining DISA STIGs, Windows Updates, and 3rd Party Patching
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting engine to automate tasks.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, including understanding user requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, successfully resolving issues and challenges, and developing creative solutions for process improvement.
  • Dependability, in that the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve.
  • Must have customer service experience as this position will require candidate to engage with senior military and government leadership.
  • Must be able to present your ideas clearly through briefings, meetings, and interaction with leadership of different skill sets.
  • Must be able to provide training sessions as required.
  • Must be able to engage with stakeholders to ensure tasks are progressing and meeting timelines.

Certification Requirements:

  • Must possess at the time of interview the appropriate baseline certification(s) to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II compliance, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or higher.
  • Will need to obtain an additional certification within six months of hire, to include one of the CSSP sections certifications (e.g., CEH, CCNA Security, CND, etc.). Candidate may have further discussions with the program's Enterprise Operation Manager for more details.

Security Clearance Level Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of an active Secret clearance at time of interview and candidate must maintain active clearance.

Location:

  • Falls Church, Virginia
  • Hours and days TBD upon hire.
  • Three (3) days onsite with up to two (2) days telework. Onboarding/transition in period requires on-site support up to 60 days. GECOS work schedules are subject to change on direction by mission requirements from GDIT or USG leadership.

Travel:

  • Up to 10%. Travel may include attending conferences up to two times annually and site visits as needed.
