Small Cell Technical Support Engineer

Position Title: Small Cell Technical Support Engineer Position Summary The Small Cell Technical Support Engineer is responsible for remote troubleshooting and field support in repair of DAS network system issues. This position will support development of processes and procedures to ensure cost effective execution of service level agreements, qualify new DAS vendor equipment and integrate new DAS networks into the Crown NOC. As well, the DAS Operations Engineer is responsible for reviewing key metrics to identify systemic or repeated issues that require root cause investigation and work with tier 3 parties and vendors to resolve or provide software fixes if required. Essential Job Functions * Apply extensive knowledge to real world challenges in the DAS/small cell network as it relates to complex functionality, RF, design specs in carrier networks (LTE, CDMA, PCS1900, UMTS, GSM, etc.). * Evaluate and integrate new technologies and equipment into operational support and network management systems (NMS, EMS, etc.). * Analyze, diagnose, and resolve DAS/small Cell network system issues to ensure highly reliable network operation. * Perform post mortem assessment and root cause analysis investigations for customer impacting outages. * Track and manage Small Cell network performance to identify improvement opportunities and to predict equipment obsolescence or failure. * Ability to develop solutions that provide specific troubleshooting procedures to be executed with each alarm. * Identify potential hardware and software defects and drive resolution of those defects with the development group and vendors. * Develop and implement vendor management programs that reduce hardware failures and support training programs that reduce number of returns where no fault was found. * Incorporate vendor capabilities and features into carrier networks. * Assure vendor road maps include enhancements that coincide with operational objectives. * Propagate vendor expertise across the technical support teams. * Develop and implement training for NOC and field personnel on new products, proper use of equipment, and maintenance and repair procedures. * Provide various program support including support of pilot programs, support of vendor software upgrades, and implementation of connectivity standards, etc. * Apply alarm standards across vendors (criticality and naming convention). * Conduct qualification of new vendors. * Document standards to ensure consistent integration of each program/product. Education/Certifications * Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience Experience/Minimum Requirements * Three (3) to Five (5) years of technical work experience in the telecommunications industry with a technical background in telephony and data networking. Other Skills/Abilities * Expert knowledge of Network surveillance technologies * Experience operating a 24×7 operations center * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of IT data networks and carrier RFnetworks Organizational Relationship Reports to: Manager Small Cell Technical Support Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): N/A Working Conditions: Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
