We are looking for a dynamic, accomplished programmer to be a member of the Operations SCADA/APP UI team.
The Digital Grid Software and Solutions business segment is responsible for developing large scale enterprise software solutions that include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Energy Market Management (EMM). Siemens has a global market leading position in many of these areas and is looking to further build upon that. Our customers are mostly electrical utilities of all sizes, ISOs, RTOs, TSOs etc.
You will use your expertise to build software that meets client requirements. You may work with multiple programming languages and operating systems.
Application development involves the process, life cycle and creation of the software aimed at helping users complete a computer task or program. You will work closely with computer analysts and engineers in using languages such as Java, C/C++ or ORACLE to develop the necessary specifications for software. You may also test, debug and improve generally faulty applications for clients.
– You will often have the duty of building, maintaining and implementing the source code that makes up the application or program. You may also be responsible for designing the prototype application, indicate program unit structure, overseeing application plans with the development team or client.
– A Team Lead will guide you acting as your day to day supervisor in partnership with management supporting projects. They will act as both a technical point of contact working with the technical SMEs helping management with work levels, goal settings, and balancing of priorities – with the goal to support both the people in the team and the needs of the projects.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
What you will need to know and have done to be successful?
– A Bachelor’s degree (or better) in Computer Science or something related and relevant is required as well as significant programming/development experience.
– 5+ years experience in developing code for Energy Management Systems, particularly in the SCADA area.
– Flexibility to travel from 10% to 90% depending on customer needs.
Step to the front of the pack if you have:
– C/C++ and SCADA programming experience is strongly preferred.
– Practical programming experience with the Spectrum Power platform.
– Experience working with the Spectrum Power RealTime database.
