Area Position Title: Software Engineering Lead Position Summary: Leonardo DRS is seeking an exceptionally qualified Software Engineering Lead to join our recognized team of experts to provide a solution for the U.S. Air Forces T-X program. Leonardo DRS ties together an exceptional T-100 Team comprised of Leonardo Aircrafts world class aircraft powered by Honeywell engines integrated with state-of the-art ground-based training from CAE USA. The T-100 is purpose-built for a wide range of training capabilities, long-term reliability, and cost effective operations. These characteristics along with its proven integrated training system comprised of Simulators and Ground Based Training devices make the T-100 the best solution to train todays next generation of fighter pilots. As a member of the SEIT, the successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will serve as the program interface on airborne and ground based software related topics to the customer, collaborate with stakeholder organizations within the program and across the company to ensure the required processes/polices and tools are in place, monitor software requirements allocation, reuse assessment, test and verification; and collect and report program software metrics. Duties and Responsibilities: * Leads a team of software engineers responsible for providing technical leadership across the T-100 aircraft, GBTS and major supplier software activities for the flow down of software requirements and development of airborne and ground based software products that meet customer needs and expectations. * Provides guidance to teammates and major suppliers in the CMMI certification process and collaborates with counterparts to achieve level III certification. * Collects program software metrics and participates in software design reviews, code walk through, audits and FCA/PCA. * Participates in risk reviews and monitors the implementation of mitigations for software risks. * Prepares and presents program software status and briefings to program leadership, chief engineers and customer counterparts. * Participates in major supplier design reviews and assesses adequacy of software processes and product designs * Solves complex technical problems and provides effective and innovative solutions. * Supports proposal and program ECP activities. This includes coordination with subcontractors and suppliers via Subcontract Management Teams within the IPT. * Reviews customer specifications and requirements and ensures that they are properly implemented, tested and verified * Maintains program software related processes, plans and procedures and ensures that they are being applied in a consistent manner across the air vehicle, GBTS and supplier teams. * Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization. Basic Qualifications: * BS in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems engineering with a minimum of 10 years combined experience working for a DoD fixed wing platform provider. Masters degree preferred. * Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience as an individual contributor or leading teams in a software development capacity. * Military fixed wing, high performance aircraft development or modification experience. * 5 years systems engineering experience developing, decomposing and allocating requirements. * Experience with C++ and Ada programming languages. * Experience in establishing and reporting software metrics. * Experience communicating complex technical projects to highlevel stakeholders. * Experience in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). * Experience dealing with the rules and regulations surrounding Sub-Contractor Intellectual Property. * Working knowledge of Earned Value Management on high value programs. * Proficient professional written and verbal communication skills including briefings and presentations to senior leadership and customers. * Proven track record of working with international partners and suppliers to develop and deliver program solutions. * Strong interpersonal skills in order to influence, collaborate and work effectively with all levels of internal and external leadership as part of an international team. * Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally. * Must possess or be able to acquire a Secret Clearance or above.
