The Software Systems Engineer will advance the capabilities of the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) by providing design, development, and maintenance for both software and application systems. The position includes full lifecycle support for Unix/Linux-based applications and processing scripts of a scientific nature. Additional responsibilities may include application modeling, benchmark testing, automation, debugging, and documentation. NAVOCEANO is located at NASA s Stennis Space Center, and the work will be performed in government facilities. Desired Qualifications Experience with: Development and scripting languages such as Perl, Python, and operating system shells Code repository systems (e.g. Subversion, Git) Configuration management concepts Self-motivated initiative with leadership experience Strong oral and written communication skills Strong additional consideration for experience with Scheduled tasking and batch data processing Web application development Relational database management systems (RDBMS) development Scientific programming and numerical methods Certifications in computing and network security Required Skills Bachelor s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field Interim Secret Clearance or greater with the Department of Defense Required Experience 2+ years design, development, and maintenance experience with Unix-Linux/based scripts and applications (post-graduate degrees may substitute for 2 years of experience)
