ISSM (Information System Security Manager) – Arlington, VA – JR 140

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to support its Arlington, VA office.

The ISSM will help implement, manage, and support the Information System (IS) needs of the IDT office and its VMware Enterprise-equipped classified lab. An active DOD security clearance is required.

The right candidate must have applied working knowledge of:

VMware VSphere, VMware View
Linux (Red Hat), Windows Server
Active Directory, networking, system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures
National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) requirementsand the ability to work with other ISSMs to implement and maintain systems per NISPOM standards
COMSEC (Communications Security) experience and training a plus.

Security responsibilities include:

Work with the existing ISSM staff and Facility Security Officer (FSO) to ensure the highest level of security
Assist in maintaining the Information Systems (IS) security program and policies for assigned area of responsibility
Assist in the oversight of operational IS security implementation policy and guidelines
Assist with periodic testing to evaluate the security posture of the IS
Assist in ensuring approved procedures are used for sanitizing and releasing system components and media
Assist with the development and implementation of an effective IS security education, training, and awareness program
Maintain a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures
Assist the FSO and the Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) in ensuring that insider threat awareness is addressed
Assist with the maintenance and execution of the Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) plan
Help to ensure user activity monitoring data is analyzed, stored, and protected in accordance with the ITPSO policies and procedures
Assist with compliance of current Information Assurance (IA) policies, concepts, and measures when designing, procuring, adopting, and developing new IS
Assist with Data Transfer responsibilities in the IDT lab and in nearby US Government sites

Must be adequately trained and possess technical competence commensurate with the complexity of the IS; must complete additional required training within one year of appointment

Other duties as assigned

Network Systems Administrator/Engineering responsibilities include:

Implement user additions, deletions, and changes in Microsoft Active Directory on the IDT high-side
Assist with Microsoft Active Directory design and testing on the IDT high-side
Assist with the monthly Operating System upgrades on the IDT high-side
Assist with VMware ESXi and VMware Horizon maintenance and upgrades on the IDT high-side
Assist with the monthly patching and virus definition updating on the IDT high-side (may require off-hours or weekend time to be rotated between the ISSM’s)
Assist in the testing and installation of applications on the IDT high-side (usually done during the monthly patch cycle)
Assist with the hardening of Red Hat Linux and Microsoft OS Systems to ensure they meet DSS and/or DISA standards as needed
Assist in preparation for annual DSS inspections
Assist with, and/or perform, break/fix resolutions when needed
Other duties as assigned

Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of:

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
5 years’ experience, preferably in a security position
CISSP certification preferred

This position is located in IDT’s Arlington, VA office. Up to 15% travel may be required.
