Wespath Benefits and Investments, recognized as one of “Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®” in 2017, has an opportunity for a Software Quality Assurance Team Lead to enable the efficient use of the organization’s human and financial resources to effectively coordinate and lead the software quality assurance function.  The team lead is responsible for ensuring the team’s adherence to standardized QA processes and documentation standards, overseeing and/or participating in all aspects of product testing, providing technical and functional guidance to team members, and ensuring schedule adherence for assigned projects.  This position will lead or participate in various other organizational improvement initiatives to identify opportunities for process and data improvement, integrity and quality, and customer service.  Required interactions for the Team Lead are primarily with IT and end users, but also with senior management and external vendors (retirement, healthcare/benefit vendors, consultants, etc.)


More specifically, the Software QA Team Lead will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage the Software Quality Assurance function within the organization
  • Establish plans and administer the overall goals of the team
  • Estimate testing efforts and collaborate with multi-discipline leads to analyze variances and initiate corrective actions to meet quality assurance objectives
  • Provide leadership, support, and ongoing guidance to members of the team
  • Review and identify gaps and deficiencies in business requirements, technical specifications, designs and testing documentation for completeness and testability
  • Develop test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test datasets and test scripts to use in testing software
  • Track and report on test status progress across project initiatives and create quality matrices for the project team
  • Participate in cross-functional collaborative problem solving and defect management sessions; identify priority and impact of defect
  • Lead and participate in functional, regression and performance testing
  • Communicate test results to both technical and non-technical project team members
  • Lead and participate in System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing across organizational releases
  • Contribute to the evolution of the testing tool suite in order to capitalize on tool capabilities and to increase testing team efficiencies
  • Ensure that the test bed has appropriate coverage of the functional requirements
  • Update and/or ensure the updating of the regression test bed
  • Serve as a quality assurance analyst between the system users and IT Department


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, finance or equivalent work experience
  • Seven years of web application and database testing or technical field experience
  • Proven ability to design, implement and/or manage quality control processes


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with performance, load and automated test scripting
  • Experience with HP Quality Center
  • Experience with retirement and health benefit administration
