Job Description

Summary
The Lead Developer position resides within the automotive group of Epsilon, as a member of the Enterprise Reporting team.  The Lead Developer will provide design and implementation expertise for reporting applications utilizing Angular and Pentaho together with a Greenplum based data warehouse and reporting environment.  The work will include application development for dashboards and business intelligence reports utilizing these technologies.  The role will include hands on development work (50%), coordination with and guidance of other team members (25%) and requirements gathering and validation (25%). 

The Lead Developer will assist in implementing new reporting and analytics capability for users of the data warehouse.  This is the world’s largest warehouse in the automotive marketing / loyalty space and is developed, supported and deployed in a unique onsite – offshore, associate-vendor model.


Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Reporting solutions.
  • Serve in a team lead capacity, guiding and directing the work of others, in addition to performing development tasks yourself.
  • Develop end-to-end Business Intelligence Solutions comprising a reporting data warehouse, ETL streams, and dashboards from requirements gathering to production deployment and support.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of more junior team members.
  • Provide hands-on implementation and subject-matter expertise for the data warehouse reporting data and its effective usage.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and tune the performance of all components of the reporting applications.
  • Create processes to identify failed reporting components, to provide better support for critical report failures.
  • Design and automate robust processes to launch, support and enhance the product suite.
  • Plan, run, and manage meetings with internal and external clients (onsite and offshore) as well as run with and complete important project initiatives.
  • Prepare and dispense work assignments, provide mentorship and guidance.
  • Review the work of local and offshore development team members. 

Skills - Must Have:

  • Experience designing and developing Enterprise Data Warehouse(s) and large-scale Enterprise Reporting systems, with a 1,000+ users.
  • Excellent knowledge of and 5+ years of experience with Greenplum or other MPP database technology (Teradata, Neteeza, etc). 
  • 5+ years in the BI development space utilizing either an off the shelf technology, and Open source approach, or some combination thereof. 
  • Experience with multiple reporting tools and technologies such as Tableau, Power BI, Pentaho, and Angular.
  • ETL development experience, with a focus on performance.
  • Excellent Communication skills including:
    • The ability to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment
    • Demonstrated record of completing large projects initiatives especially with internal and external clients.
    • Experience working with a geographically dispersed development team, including local and offshore resources.
  • Experience in SQL query troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience dealing with a large BI User Community in a high volume, high visibility environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of overall IT/software development experience

Skills - Nice To Have

  • Previous Knowledge of or experience with: Pentaho (Reporting, Mondrian, Kettle).
  • Kimball methodology for design of data marts.
  • Hands-on Angular development experience.
  • Hands on experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, OBIEE, Power Pivot, Power View.
  • Oracle and/or Informatica in the ETL/Warehousing domain.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in Project Estimation, Planning & Tracking, status reporting using Microsoft Project.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining strategic & tactical architecture plans.
