Who we are looking for:


A high performing Technical Analyst, Education and Meetings to join our Information Technology department. The Technical Analyst will support and manage both business side and customer-facing projects in ASCO’s digital ecosystem by fully understanding business needs and how those needs relate to the overall customer and internal staff experience. Working as a partner with other departments, this position is tasked with identifying potential bugs and feature improvements based on established customer needs, managing the workflow of development stories and tasks, and communicating effectively and managing expectations with upcoming and intersecting projects. The Technical Analyst will follow agile principles in helping enhance the organization’s digital footprint and strategic goals.

This position is located in Alexandria, VA although remote candidates will be considered.


What you will do:


·       Partner with business teams to fully understand business functions, needs and practices, and support all business systems and technical integrations, including, but not limited to, the online education platform, abstract submission, and training programs

·       Serve as direct technical contact with designated ASCO vendors by organizing long-term technical roadmaps, troubleshooting issues identified by business teams, and effectively communicating the identified issues and the expected times for fixes, as well as supporting providing expert support of all vendor-created back-end systems

·       Liaise with other departments and anticipate needs by gathering requirements and effectively communicate to other departments ASCO’s current digital priorities, customer research efforts, and technical roadmap, including where their business needs intersect with upcoming projects

·       In conjunction with senior IT leadership, manage and monitor iterative improvements to ASCO’s front-facing ASCO digital education experiences, including the LMS, based on direct customer feedback, and the creation of epics, feature improvements, user stories, and functional specs, as well as coordinating A/B testing and executing QA on product enhancements prior to release

·       Crafting documentation and visual workflows of all changes to serve as an archival records/reference of all work being completed by development team, including implications for the business and operational teams

·       Working with business teams to identify inefficiencies in processes, systems or integrations and partner with the business and vendor and internal development teams to solve these inefficiencies

·       Demo for business stakeholders and senior leaders, when warranted, development efforts as they are prepared for or deployed to a production environment


What you will need to be successful:


·       BA / BS in IT, communication, information management, business or a related field or equivalent experience

·       6+ years of prior experience as a Business Analyst or other IT role, such as support or development

·       Proven track record in effectively partnering with non-IT teams to deliver customer benefits aligned with business needs

·       Strong customer service, oral, and communication skills

·       Strong understanding and working experience with Agile methodologies

·       Experience with ticketing systems such as JIRA

·       Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

·       Strong problem solving and analytical mindset

·       Self-motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities

·       Collaborative spirit with excellent communication skills

·       Strong passion for quality, documentation, visibility, transparency and metrics

·       Willing to advocate for new processes and tools to drive improvement

·       Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment via understanding, empathy, and earned trust


Ideal candidates will also contribute:


·     Experience with LMS

·     Experience with change management

·     Familiarity with MDM, CRM, and other data systems


Work environment

·       Fast-paced office environment with extended periods seated or standing at a desk

·       High use of computer and other office technology equipment
