API Developer

Position Description
Become part of a team to help a large government agency support transformative biomedical and health breakthroughs. CGI Federal is seeking an API Developer to support advanced research projects that will provide healthcare solutions for all.

***This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days onsite/week ***

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Design and implement secure APIs to facilitate seamless communication between privacy-protecting components and Zero Trust mechanisms for AI.
• Collaborate with the Data Engineer and ML Ops Engineer on efficient and secure data flow and model deployment through APIs.
• Adhere to API development best practices and standards.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related technical or scientific field with a minimum of 5+ years in Fullstack or application development and 3+ years of Blockchain experience.
• Proficiency in designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 FHIR, and understanding of healthcare data formats (e.g., XML, JSON).
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and other secure authentication and authorization protocols, especially in the context of PHI (Protected Health Information).
• Familiarity with API management platforms and understanding of rate limiting, service mesh architectures, and API gateways in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to create comprehensive API documentation that meets healthcare compliance requirements.

Preferred qualifications
• Prior experience working with EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems or other healthcare technology platforms.
• Knowledge of public health informatics and experience with public sector or government IT projects.
• Experience in using and implementing SMART on FHIR apps and APIs.
• Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations applicable to healthcare, such as HIPAA in the United States, GDPR in Europe, or other national healthcare data protection regulations.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $94,500 – $165,300.
