Reporting

Relationship: Reports directly to Automation Lead Engineer

Location: Douglas, Georgia

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent

Work Experience: Entry level

Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing facility preferred

*

Experience with Allen Bradley PLC’s, PC Human-Machine Interface packages, ************* (C#), Ladder Logic and Microsoft SQL preferred

*

Fanuc Robotics programming and setup experience a plus

Principal Area of

Responsibility: The automation engineer will have the responsibility to design and implement manufacturing technology to automate production processes. Analysis of production process that include improving current processes or designing a complete manufacturing system. Set budgets and estimate overall costs of systems. Oversee and direct the installation of new processes or systems.

Specific Duties:

*

Responsible for defining automation and equipment solutions to enable new product introduction

*

Plan, implement, and enhance automated manufacturing systems

*

Responsible for the integration, maintenance and trouble-shooting of computer systems and programs used in assigned automation projects

*

Investigate new capabilities, automation and equipment, to find innovation ideas for more efficient manufacturing methods

*

Drive continuous improvement initiatives for automation and equipment for cost reduction

*

Implement programs to achieve production objectives to meet quality, cost and delivery commitments

*

Ensure compliance to software quality assurance when programming or maintaining automation code

*

Document work and write standard operating procedures

*

Work with suppliers and manage the program to meet the goals and timeline

*

Work with cross functional teams to implement new automation and equipment solutions to meet project cost and schedule objectives

*

Be available for multiple shift support for all automated systems where designated

*

Ensure that all automated processes adhere to safety requirements

*

Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Physical and Mental Demands:

* Proficient with Microsoft Office tools

* Strong understanding of project management methodology

*

Strong analytical skills, ability to identify and anticipate internal and external customer needs and design/execute quantitative approaches

*

Must be detail oriented and numbers driven with a concern for quality

*

Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in an ad-hoc, fast-paced environment

*

Strong customer focus skills

*

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to adjust based on the audience/end user community
