Overview

The Benefits Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting, understanding, and documenting business requirements to support the development and execution of client analytic capabilities for the Benefits business line. These capabilities will include the data foundation of benefit plan, enrollment and utilization data as well as internal consultant- and client-facing reports that analyze client plan performance, medical and pharmaceutical utilization, and other areas that drive insights and recommendations for clients. This role involves defining system and analytic requirements and user stories, analyzing large datasets, and delivering actionable insights. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will collaborate with business stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement to support strategic business goals.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead requirements sessions with business SMEs to document and groom requirements, ensuring alignment with business needs. Requirements Validation: Ensure that user stories and requirements accurately capture the intended functionality and user experience.
  • Document detailed user stories and estimate delivery effort to ensure clear and actionable requirements, including requirements for data visualization, analysis, and reporting, data management, and data privacy, security and compliance.
  • Provide analytic support to consultants and clients generate insights and recommendations.
  • Serve as a mentor for other Business Systems Analysts, data analysts, and engineers on the team in understanding, using, and operating client analytic capabilities.
  • Participate in operational execution of client onboarding, data loads, and production support.
  • Understand data agreements with clients, carriers and other providers, and ensure data is handled in accordance with requirements defined by these agreements.
  • Be familiar with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements for handling personal identifiable information (PII), personal confidential information, and personal health information (PHI), including HIPAA and SOC2 standards. Become trained and certified to for sensitive data and ensure that all client, carrier, and Gallagher data is handled appropriately.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for consultants and the Data Analytics & AI team on clinical and healthcare data and analytics.
  • Support the definition and execution of use cases and value opportunities for client analytics to develop analytic capabilities, increase operational efficiency, and improve customer and agent / advisory experience.
  • Define features, requirements, and user stories based on stakeholder input, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
  • Document test scenarios and execution steps, ensuring traceability to user stories and requirements.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information management, or related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in data management and data strategy roles.
  • Knowledge of insurance and employee benefits processes & data, health analytics, benchmarking and data-enabled storytelling
  • Ability to understand Gallagher business objectives, processes and systems.  Ability to analyze complex workflows and implications for data
  • Experience implementing reporting and analytics, including benchmarking and self-service capabilities to improve cost and efficacy of healthcare and benefits programs
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex business requirements, especially to deliver data management, reporting, visualization, and analytic capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Cloud data platforms and data ingestion/integration tools, data management practices, data privacy and security to empower employers and their benefit consultants to solve complex problems
  • Experience delivering analytic capabilities in an Agile environment, including workshop facilitation, use case identification, backlog management, requirements grooming, and delivery
  • Familiarity with with legal, regulatory and enterprise standards for sensitive information, including HIPAA and SOC2.
  • Stakeholder and user engagement and communication
