Business Systems Analyst II

Schaumburg IL Zurich Insurance Company Ltd.

Zurich is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL, or conversely, out of our Owings Mills, MD office, supporting a portfolio of commercial and underwriting insurance applications as part of the Core Platform Modernization team within Information Technology Services.

 

This individual will act as a liaison between the development and production support teams and in assisting the teams in translating policy administration business requirements into technical specifications for application updates related to projects, enhancements and compliance needs while working in an Agile environment supporting and implementing products into production.  The ideal candidate will be an individual that is an energetic, analytical and a skilled professional where the Analyst will trouble-shoot integration issues and application errors and thus service as the liaison between the Business and IT.

 

The BSA will also have the ability to work with the business and technical resources to address business information and the application needs.

 

Other responsibilities may include: 

  • Participation of gathering business requirements and translating them into user stories and acceptance criteria

  • Coordinate activities with product owners to gather requirements

  • Document detailed functional and non-functional requirements

  • Use requirements management tools and techniques such as Use Cases, Data Matrix, Process Flow Diagrams, JIRA, etc.

  • Support development, testing, and implementation

  • Good understanding of and applying delivery approaches (i.e. Agile methodology, Scrum) and perform, independently, business analysis processes in accordance with Zurich Project management framework and the Zurich risk policy

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
    OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area
    AND

  • Process reengineering, e.g., LEAN/Six Sigma, Continuous improvement methodologies

  • Process modeling tools

  • Business Systems Integration

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience working in a Commercial insurance or Underwriting environment or knowledge of insurance business processes and processing

  • 1 or more years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter

  • Supporting and performing testing as necessary to ensure requirements are met

  • Experience working with various delivery methodologies, specifically the Agile methodology framework, preferred

  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Familiarity with ISO commercial lines

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message
