Job Description

Employee Title: CIO – Chief Information Officer & Product Implementation

Location: Encino, CA


The CIO will partner with the CEO and other American LegalNet managers to significantly increase ALN revenue streams and footprint in the legal community. The CIO will be directly responsible in the management and execution of ALN’s strategy and the effective use of resources: product delivery, project management, solution implementation, information technology (IT), DevOps. The CIO will manage internal staff and external agencies / implementation partners.

American LegalNet is looking for a seasoned tech executive that will create business value for the company through technology, strategic planning of business growth objectives and how to manage such growth and ensuring the tech systems and procedures lead to outcomes in line with business goals consistent with effective infrastructure set up, efficient operations and improved client experience and in tune with the hi-tech needs of customers. The CIO will lead the company to digital transformation and implementation of innovative solutions that benefit both the company and its clients/customers.

The CIO of American LegalNet is a hybrid position that will focus on successful servicing ALN’s clients through effective and methodical product implementation and deployment including project management, technical support and overall client services.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent technical leader and will have experience in managing staff of different disciplines including product implementation, project management, and production support to produce results in a timely manner. The goal is to ensure that all programs deliver the desirable outcome to our organization. The candidate will create a more effective PMO and organize and coordinate programs. He/she will provide strategic guidance to teams and project managers in ways that promote the company’s products and culture and will also oversee the progress of related aspect of operations.

This role involves tracking deadlines, deliverables, resources, and timelines throughout the project process and holds owners accountable for their commitments and will conduct project team meetings to provide status updates and identify and resolve issues. By managing the overall process of carrying out the project, he/she should be able to adapt plans based on evolving needs, conditions or issues that may arise and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery in accordance with the stated project goals.


Product Delivery – Implementation and Deployment and Project Management

– Lead successful turnover from the Sales Team of newly signed-up clients for product implementation and deployment.
– Decide on suitable strategies and objectives in managing projects and implementations
– Manage the team handling project management and implementation / deployment of ALN products and services
– Develop and re-engineer PMO processes and set higher level of performance
– Define and set standards for all aspects of product implementation, product management, training and production support
– Review and update current SLA – Service Level Agreements and ensure strict delivery of services and all deliverables, and develop and control deadlines and timelines
– Review and approve Statement of Work (SOWs) and manage internal resources and client expectations
– Monitor project managers’ utilization, productivity and profitability; Identify opportunities for additional revenues from Professional Services
– Monitor all new, on-going and completed projects and deployments ensuring utmost client satisfaction untangling and avoiding road blocks, botte-necks, issues and delays
– Lead the post-implementation review and survey
– Assess, manage and maintain relationships with implementation partners

Client Services

– Lead timely and effective resolution of client issues and escalated tickets through strict monitoring of the items, discussion of solutions with Production Support and product Development and Product Management teams
– Manage timely communication to the clients on the status of outstanding issues and timely resolution
– Identify clients who are candidates for upgrades and conversion and manage the conversion/transition process
– Review EULA (End User License Agreement) and ensure published version is the most recent and protects the interest the company.
– change, risk and resource management consistent with providing best quality product and service to the company’s clients

Infrastructure and Systems

– Provide management direction and leadership in the application of information technology to support the achievement of ALN strategic and operational business plans
– Own availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency for ALN’s services
– Develop and coordinate the implementation process of the new systems and ensures they meet the stated requirements for ALN and its clients

– Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits
– Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve internal and client experience
– Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance
– Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage

– Lead the implementation of security best practices, monitor and manage security incidents, and remediate security vulnerabilities IT software and systems
– Design a disaster recovery program that includes fail-over backup measures to avoid business interruption for the company and its clients


– Proven experience as CIO or similar executive role plus strong solution / application implementation and deployment background a tech / software company including product delivery and implementation.
– MSc/MA preferred, and must have BS/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
– Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills as this role will represent the company to its clients in product deployments, meetings, client visits and conferences; good understanding of business processes and issues from business users and clients (preferably in legal industry)
– Solid understanding of data analysis and business operations (preferably in legal industry)
– Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
– A strong strategic and business mindset
– Excellent organizational and leadership skills
– Project Management. PMP certification is desired
– Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
– Travel – must be willing to travel up to 20-30% of the time throughout the US conducting on site, in-person training/problem-solving/relationship building efforts.
