The Portland Information Technology Department provides technology services and support to all City Departments. The IT Department consists of an IT Director, an Assistant IT Director, one Senior IT Specialist, one IT Security Specialist, and two IT Specialists, with an operating budget of $800,000 (excluding capital projects). Up to six part-time employees are utilized for special projects.
The City of Portland seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual for the new Assistant IT Director. This person will also be a SIEM Analyst. Some project management, public speaking, and budget management experience are a plus. Reporting to the IT Director, the Assistant IT Director manages all aspects of Information Technology and Management of City IT systems and projects. This position has four direct reports and is responsible for providing cutting-edge technologies and services while maintaining high availability, integrity, and confidentiality. The Assistant IT Director will assist with department administration, budgeting, and project management, and provide SIEM analysis and remediation.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field, and at least five years’ experience in information technology, at least two years of experience in project management, at least two years of experience in cyber security or digital forensics and at least one year in SIEM or relevant certifications is required. A cybersecurity-related bachelor’s degree and/or a master’s degree is preferred. Cybersecurity and Forensics certifications are preferred. Must be able to pass a stringent background investigation resulting in approved access to Criminal Justice Information Systems Information. Residence within 30 minutes of driving distance is required.
The salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 dependent on qualifications and experience.
