Clinical Systems Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT Clinical Analyst works at resolving production problems and is accountable for the development of basic application/system specifications, systems testing, code changes and the implementation of releases. Facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support patients, nurses, physicians and other clinical providers in their decision making in all roles and settings.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

*

Associate’s degree required.

*

Bachelor’s degree or advanced education/experience in Information Systems, preferably in a clinical field is preferred, but may be substituted with systems project management in a healthcare setting.

EXPERIENCE:

*

Five years of Information Technology related work experience involving working with clients in a healthcare environment, a solid understanding of information systems and knowledge of MS programs e.g. Word, Excel, and Outlook is needed along with some project management and systems testing experience.

*

Minimum of one year experience and functional knowledge in Meditech and of clinical applications required.

*

Candidate with additional knowledge and experience of Medical Imaging, Emergency Department services and Operating Room healthcare-related software applications is preferred.

COMPETENCIES:

*

Strong, demonstrable experience implementing and supporting HIS applications within a hospital / health system

*

Strong communication skills, written and verbal are required to effectively communicate with peers and customers to include physicians, vendors and system users at all levels

*

A solid customer service acumen and interpersonal skill is essential to successfully fulfill the service element required of this position

*

Proven ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team, and contribute to a dynamic team environment

*

Ability and commitment to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner with guidance from Lead Analyst or Manager

*

Reliable transportation is required

Participates in workflow design and understands how clinical systems impact end users

2.

Manages clinical applications in the areas of ongoing user support/training, dictionary maintenance, system enhancements, problem analysis, resolution and troubleshooting.

3.

Considered a subject matter expert (SME) in 2 – 3 clinical modules and/or systems

4.

Execute build activities for assigned areas and ensure the build complies with guidelines and design decisions.

5.

Work with end users to validate system design and identify additional requirements for successful adoption/use, including end user training

6.

Be proficient with applications, touch points with other applications and interface requirements including working closely with other analysts, outside vendors and end users

7.

Provide end user support and resolve issues across multiple applications

8.

Prepares project plans for projects as assigned, may act as team lead on specific projects. Creates and maintains all project and resource documentation.

9.

Shares on on-call responsibility as required
