More About the Role:
SMIT at Leidos currently has an opening for a Communications Network Engineer – Transport Delivery Lead position. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the SMIT mission.  SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under SMIT, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The Position involves extensive knowledge of network communications, architecture, security controls and configuration.

Candidates for this position are highly motivated and have working knowledge of network operations, fault diagnosis, repair, installation, configuration, cabling, passive infrastructure, troubleshooting, project execution, as well as the ability to follow detailed policies and procedures. The ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, fast-paced and mission-focused environment is a must.

What You'll Get to Do:
•Supervise 5-10 direct-report Transport Delivery-focused Network Engineers who are responsible for the creation and updating of network architecture diagrams, configuration bundle generation and validation in support of current and future SMIT network architectures.
•Ensures proper time charging discipline is executed across the staff within their supervision.
•Oversees and documents work activities/details per established tools and processes; maintains accurate site, regional and project documentation.
•Participates in RAPT proposal process and contributes to and suggests input for Basis of Estimate (BOE) submissions for the Transport Delivery team supporting project and program initiatives.
•Champions Enterprise Transport Services on all ITSM Service Management Improvement Activity (SMIA), Structured Improvement Activity (SIA) and any resulting Continual Improvement (CxI) activities.
•Responsible for authoring/maintaining Knowledge Management (KM) articles applicable to the Transport Delivery team. Conducts training for the staff within their supervision to maintain a baseline skill set and knowledge base for all current and future members of the team.  Re-certifies training annually to maintain baseline.
•Provides guidance and direction for Transport Delivery on new solutions being introduced into the program.
•Partner with Engineering teams to provide collaboration and insight for future DevOPs model and contribute feedback for new solution development to shape methodologies that would affect current delivery processes for Transport Delivery team.
•Supports network configuration/asset management activities, manages configuration drift, and accurately creates or modifies network documentation to reflect the as-is and/or to-be environment.
•Collaborate with Transport Operations and Transport Field Leads to lend feedback on Engineering Implementation Plan (EIP) Templates.
•Provide oversight to the automation engineers in their contributions to the development of automation.
•Supports Cybersecurity requirements and implementation of security controls (STIG compliance.).

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
•Requires B.S. Degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Ten plus years of overall related experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree at the hiring Manager’s discretion).
•Must be US Citizen and possess an active Secret Clearance.
•Must have current IAT Level II Certification: Comp TIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate-Security.
•Must have current Network Vendor Associate Level Certification is required (i.e. Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, etc…).
•8+ years’ experience troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues.
•8+ years’ experience configuring switches, routers, network appliances, WAN acceleration devices.
•Experience with multiple vendor routing, switching or wireless product lines.
•Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP network/subnet addressing.
•Ability to work independently or in a team environment to resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment.
•Ability to be scheduled to work, or be called in to work during off hours and weekends to meet customer mission support requirements.
•Ability to travel up to 25% including possible OCONUS travel.
•Customer service experience.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Top Secret Security Clearance.
•MPLS experience.
•DevOps, CI/CD experience.
•Scripting experience (i.e. Python, etc…).
•Automation experience (i.e. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc…).
•SDN/SD WAN experience.
•Professional or Expert level vendor certifications.
•ITIL certifications.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 – $157,450.00
