Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology, Health and Civil Services Division has an opportunity for a Desktop Support role supporting the General Counsel organization with the following responsibilities:

– Coordination with IT organizations in support of General Counsel’s information technology requirements

– Help desk support specific to the General Counsel users and applications

– Desktop hardware, software support, peripheral equipment; inventory management and programming

– Network, application and user administration, and maintenance

– Analysis, troubleshooting, IT coordination, application development, implementation, training and maintenance for General Counsel organizational requirements

Description of Work:

– Monitor, respond to, and resolve user request for computer-related support

– Monitor, respond to, and resolve network, server, workstation and application issues, coordinating with USPS IT organizations as needed

– Administration and management of organization’s server storage space, managing the usage and security of the storage space allotted to the organization’s headquarters and field units

– Management of the off-line storage of General Counsel sensitive case material

– Administration of users’ access to applications and services needed in support of their duties

– Administration of users’ entry and access throughout the facility

– Support external data storage management for General Counsel stand-alone offices which are not supported by USPS IT staff directly

– Provide user training and education through customized documentation, training sessions and one-on-one interaction for Postal IT and organizational applications and services as needed

– Management of the receipt, delivery, and processing coordination of electronic case related material

Provide continued maintenance and support of General Counsels’ existing applications, technologies and services. These consist of, but are not limited to:

– Oracle Data Base knowledge

– SQL Knowledge

– Corel Word Perfect

– Knowledge of matter/content/document management system

– MS Office 2010 and XP Windows 7; Adobe Acrobat

– Research tools: Lexis, Westlaw, CyberFeds, PACER, etc

– Phone System administration (PBX)

– File Encryption and Security

– Network troubleshooting

– Diagnostic

– Cabling

– Share Point

– Microsoft Project

– Performance Testing and Monitoring

– Facility Security Administration

– Understanding of Cloud Computing Concepts and Terminal Services

– Knowledge of basic security principles (anti-virus, spam, firewall, network access

Special Projects:

– On-site support for organizational and departmental events

– Coordination, implementation and support of the departmental upgrades to the latest USPS corporate computing standards for server, workstation hardware, peripherals and software applications and operating systems

– Assist with the analysis, testing, and implementation of web-based interactive applications, specifically for information exchange between department staff and customers, clients and business partners based on standards set by USPS IT

– Coordinate the development and support of the specialized remote data communication configurations needs by staff with IT communications groups

– Coordinate with IT and other internal organizations on the collection, management and proper storage of case e-discovery information

Education

Education:
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
* 2-5 years of directly related computer systems analysis and/or programming experience
* Certifications in MCP, CCNA, Security +, Network+ or equivalent experience are a plus
