Desktop Support Technician

TITLE: Desktop Support Technican
LOCATION: Spartanburg, SC
GRADE: 7
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Position responsible for installation, move, add, change and repair of IT-Equipment

Responsible for ownership of customer problems or incidents until the situation has been resolved to the customers satisfaction and or in compliance with agreed upon Service Level Agreements

Technician is expected to travel throughout the BMW campus and auxiliary building(s) as needed to perform PC refreshes or new installs using personal vehicle.

Technician is expected to perform some level one support for customers prior to and after refreshes are done.

Technician may be asked to perform drive backups and restores.

Technician may be asked to travel out of state to other BMW sites.

Required to perform work on products and services of low to medium high complexity, specifically end user devices; Make minor repairs and replace components on Tier I and II equipment such as PCs, workstations.

Capable to install and configure software along given procedures

Capable to implement basic windows 78 administration.

Ability to do basic to intermediate-advanced IP configurations on PC’s, network devices and other peripherals like printers and scanners.

Responsible for assisting in site preparation, staging of equipment, perform required modular swaps and unit replacements and testing of PC equipment.

Customer Engineer responds to all customer concerns or problems by resolving them or by escalating them to the proper associate, team member, and Territory Manager.

Build working relationships with customers and develop informal communication channels with customer’s end users and local customer’s group leaders at the local level; Represents NCR in a manner that reflects positively on the image and reputation of the company

Responsible for all NCR assets that will be used in the delivery of customer services (i.e. tools, software, vehicles, documentation, and intellectual property), or as assigned by management;

Responsible for accurate and prompt reporting of calls and activity, as well as other reporting as required.

Responsible for capturing detailed customer asset information and other data required to complete any invoicing or billing activities

May be dispatched daily on a call-by-call basis or may establish hisher own daily schedule on the basis of automated reports

Ensure staff productivity measures are achieved; Work together with Call Center Staff via PDA to recover machines;

Work together with Security Escort Officer

Has sense for environments having H & S rules applied; actively supports observation of H & S rules;
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent 1-3 years of related experience

Ability to work with Microsoft Office suite; Experience on Windows XP, Windows 7 operating systems; basic Unix knowledge is an advantage.

Experience in PC Hardware and Software Maintenance and support A+ Certification ITE or Polytechnic in Electronics and Communications Engineering Works well with minimal supervision.

Good problem solving skills; Ability to pick up new skills quickly; Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work Excellent interpersonal skillscustomer relationship skills required High level of mechanicalelectrical aptitude.

Experience on maintaining computer hardware (Desktops, Servers, peripherals required).

High level of personal integrity; Support and promote teamwork and cooperative effort

Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, overtime, flex shifts, and on-call.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Must have the ability to carrying and lifting a tool kitparts of varying weights (1- 50 lbs.) and prolonged travel as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s Degree preferred previous service experience in large customer’s production and office environments is a plus.
