Developer, Data Integration – INF001860

The Developer, Data Integration will develop solutions required to extract, transform, clean, and move data from the business systems into the enterprise data warehouse, data mart and operational data stores. Other related responsibilities include ongoing support, maintenance, and other ETL related information technology endeavors such as data migration, data cleansing and data modeling.

Location Note

This role is a hybrid work arrangement where the candidate can perform this role in-office or remote as part of our on-purpose, for a purpose model. It will be expected that members of this team will be getting together in our Chicago office around 1-2 days a month. We are seeking candidates that either live in the Chicagoland area or can reasonably commute to our office in Chicago should a meeting or collaborative session be scheduled.

Essential Functions

  • As appropriate, participate in project planning sessions with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Technical Architects to analyze business / technology requirements and outline the proposed technology solution.
  • Participate in project estimation activities.
  • Translate technical requirements into a detailed design for new and existing code.
  • Document the detailed design specifications.
  • Incorporate support, standards, and security requirements into design.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations.
  • Develop and enhance software application modules.
  • Oracle – version 11 or higher. Expertise in creating and tuning complex high-volume queries. Ability to analyze and understand complex data models to create solutions for data selection requirements.
  • Experience in Perl is desirable, but not required.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications.
  • Perform unit, system and integration testing and participate in capacity / performance testing of an application.
  • Adhere to security, control, and SDLC policies throughout design, development, and testing.
  • Understand and execute release management and change management processes for changes to applications.
  • Identify and document ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Production support activities involving the identification, troubleshooting and resolution of application issues and code defects.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation.
  • Take ownership of a problem and stay with it through to resolution — often involves coordinating the actions of people in other teams to achieve the desired result.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Manage individual workload and deliver agreed upon project milestones.
  • Communicate status and risks to manager regarding delivering solution on time.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in team environment and assist with resolution of issues.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Understanding of BI/ETL development in the IT industry with recent development, system administration, application tuning and debugging experience.
  • 1+ years of development experience with database engines including Oracle.
  • 1+ years of ETL Development, Informatica Programming, Strong Database (Modeling, SQL), Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures
  • Familiarity with Data Integration/Warehousing methodology and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the company's business practices, and familiarity with the industry's products and services.
  • Understanding of SDLC and production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • While the minimum qualifications above state 1+ years of development experience with database engines, ETL Development, and Informatica Programming, our ideal preference is 3+ years of experience in these areas.
  • Local candidates to the Chicago metropolitan area or reasonable commutable distance to our Chicago office are preferred.

  • Software Engineering: PL-SQL, SQL Plus, K Shell, C Shell, Perl
    • UNIX – Expertise in ksh scripting and data manipulation.
    • Competency with regular expressions and utilities like sed, grep, awk.
  • Integration Technologies: Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Informatica or other leading ETL tools
  • Databases: Oracle, SQL, Data Warehousing, OLAP Systems
  • O/S & Network: IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP/UX, LINUX

COMPENSATION : Salary Range target is $70,000 to $113,751
