DevOps Engineer

Position Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our infrastructure and development processes. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of our software products. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software development, system administration, and automation, along with a deep understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

This position can be located at any CGI office in the U.S, preferred location is Fairfax, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities
– Implement and manage the infrastructure and development processes required to support our software products.
– Collaborate with development teams to define and implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
– Automate the deployment, scaling, and monitoring of software applications and infrastructure.
– Implement and manage configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, to ensure consistent and reliable deployment of software and infrastructure.
– Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
– Collaborate with system administrators to ensure proper configuration and management of servers, networks, and storage systems.
– Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery processes.
– Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in DevOps, cloud computing, and automation.
– Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
– Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents in a timely manner.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
– Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
– Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
– Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and practices, such as Agile or DevOps.
– Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
– Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Terraform, Bicep)
– Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
– Experience developing, maintaining and using CI/CD pipeline automation (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
– Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
– Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
– Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
• Experience with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, etc)
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals
• Certification in DevOps (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes.

CGI anticipates to accept applications for this role until 6/30/2024.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $85,800.00 – $190,100.00.
