What You'll Be Helping Achieve:

The Drupal Front-End Developer will support front-end development. This person will be responsible for ensuring an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation. This developer will work closely with the back-end developers that are designing and implementing new features and functionality, establishing, and guiding the website's architecture, ensuring high performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.

What You'll Be Working On:

* Design and implement new features to the system

* Ensure optimal performance

* Identify and troubleshoot issues in the code, unit testing

* Provide innovative and new features to keep the system up to date

* Collaborate with front-end developers and external partners for functional and intuitive implementation

* Help manage and administer the content management systems and related IT architecture for two popular, public-facing government websites

* Strategically envision and scope web design and development projects

* Plan, coordinate, and evaluate web design and development tasks and timelines, from the conceptual stage to delivery and publication of the final product

* Identify, diagnose, and resolve any problems with the function of a website by implementing testing processes and working with technical staff, as needed, to address any issues

* Maintain and update documentation on all technical aspects of the web projects, with emphasis on unique problems and challenges that occur on our projects, and their solutions

* Aim to meet project goals within the specified budget and timeline; and recommend adjustments to plans and workflows as needed to help save time and costs

How You'll Excel in Your Role:

* Bachelor's degree in the Arts or Science required

* 5+ years of experience in systems analysis or business information systems, including 4 years in the area of developing system requirements and high-level design specifications

* Experience developing web solutions in Drupal and PHP implementations in a Linux-based LAMP environment

* Ability to architect enterprise Drupal solutions including data, display, and information architecture

* Advanced site-building experience including familiarity with Drupal modules such as CTools, Views, and Panels

* Experience creating custom Drupal modules that are production ready

* Experience building responsive websites using Drupal CMS, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3/SASS, JavaScript/jQuery

* Knowledge of PHP, PHP files and theme functions, and knowledge of the Drupal theme layer

* Experience in code management with GitLab/GitHub or a similar repository

* Experience in reviewing code and other web development work and providing constructive feedback for product optimization

* Strong communication skills which include the ability to convey concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, both verbally and written; active listening skills to gather key information from internal and external partners

* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a high-paced environment, multi-task, and work both independently and as a team

* Knowledge of NOAA systems, services, research, and/or programs is a PLUS

* Must be U. S. Citizen or Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder per contract requirements

* Candidate must be able to qualify and complete a Public Trust investigation
