Position Description
We are looking for a special, high-impact person – the kind of contributor who is willing to get into the details and wants to make a big difference by developing best-in-class interfaces with SAP using IBM’s B2B Integrator solution (B2Bi). The EDI Developer designs, modifies, develops and implements EDI and other Interfaces; supports and/or installs software applications and components; works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintains documentation of process flows.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure reliable day-to-day EDI production by monitoring operations, troubleshooting and resolving processing and translation errors, and maintaining stable system performance.
- Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions to build and maintain EDI interfaces using IBM’s B2Bi solution.
- Work closely with the EDI Manager to ensure effective on-boarding of new EDI trading partners and maintenance of existing trading partners.
- Gather requirements, capture functional specifications, design, develop code/maps, and perform testing in order to meet the requirements and their deadlines.
- Design, build, and optimize business processes (BPs) within IBM Sterling Integrator.
- Communicate regularly with internal and external customers on the status of projects.
- Enhance existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement
- Maintain existing systems by identifying and correcting software defects.
- Investigate and develop skills in new technologies both within and outside the EDI space
- This position will have requirements for after hours and weekend support.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and hotfix deployments as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
- At least 5-7 years of experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, version 5.2 or higher, with Map editor and Business Processes.
- Experience with X12 mapping message types such as 810, 850, 855, 856, 860, 875, 880.
- Some experience working with EDIFACT is nice to have.
- Experience with processing translation to include flat files, IDOCS, EDI standards, XML.
- Experience with Communication Protocols: FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP, HTTP/S, AS2, VAN, etc.
- Experience in configuring the necessary Business Processes for FTP, SFTP, AS2 customers, and other protocols
- Over 3 years of experience with trading partner onboarding.
- Expertise with Business Process (BPML).
- Experience in installation, configuration, and Maintenance of IBM Sterling Integrator B2Bi 6.0 or higher, Perimeter server in a clustered environment.
- Experience interfacing with SAP is nice to have, mapping to idocs such as INVOIC, DESADV, GENHDR, INVFIL, ORDHDR, TXTRAW02, ORDERS05 and using the standard SAP Transaction Codes such as BD87, VA03, VF03, WE20.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business analysts, architects, and partner onboarding teams, and to document process flows, system configurations, and solution designs.
- Good understanding of databases and strong SQL skills is nice to have.
- Expertise on Sterling B2BAPI’s.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related field preferred.
- Training or Certification in B2B Integrator tools
Competencies:
- Ability to work and consult with colleagues as well as individually
- Analytical ability to synthesize data and report/align on metrics
- Maintain existing EDI solutions by identifying and correcting defects
- Build relationships with key members of our user community and become a trusted resource with those users
- Be the go-to resource on all technical matters related to EDI and B2Bi for the production landscape.
- Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on an existing suite of complex applications
