Essential Responsibilities:  

 

  • Primarily develop embedded software for measurement systems and sensors for cranes and other mobile equipment.
  • Works with hardware engineers to define microprocessor selection, interfacing circuits and communications at the module and system level.
  • Assist in designing hardware circuits involving microcontrollers and interfacing 0-5V, 4-20mA, mV/V, and frequency sensors.
  • Translates VOC information into actionable design objectives for TWG products.  Communicates with customers to ensure clear understanding of customer requirements.
  • Defines system level software design proposals describing technical architectures and solutions.
  • Performs validation testing of software design, verifies embedded firmware, and hardware/system functionality.
  • Leads the troubleshooting and resolution of software issues.
  • Validates and troubleshoots product functionality during on-site customer visits as required.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned as required.
  • This position is also responsible for, with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing when a problem is identified, protect the environment, including preventing pollution, analyzing, or identifying areas for correction or improvement.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Required:

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis in software development
  • 5+ years’ experience in embedded systems programming using C/C++ or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must be able to travel as required (less than 15%)

Preferred Experience:

 

  • C/C++ development of bare metal firmware, Linux OS, and FreeRTOS
  • Display programming with LVGL, Qt, or PowerVision to create UI’s
  • Scripting tools, languages and formats (e.g. AngelScript, JSON)
  • Windows application programming with C++, C#
  • Software management tools (SVN, Git, CVS)
  • Software defect tracking tools (Bugzilla, JIRA)
  • Debugging tools (JTAG, gdb, digital oscilloscopes, DVMs, logic analyzers)
  • CANbus protocols: SAE J1939 and CANopen
  • Wireless interfaces: Bluetooth BLE 5.x, Wi-Fi 802.11x
  • Communications: USB, SPI, I²C, and UART
  • IC datasheet and schematic compression
  • Altium schematic capture
  • Working knowledge of cranes and aerial lifts
