Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is seeking an airborne electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensing and targeting systems engineer to provide hands-on systems design and test to EO/IR sensor development and production programs. This position is responsible for directly working on and providing hardware product ownership to teams developing, integrating, testing, qualifying, and producing airborne targeting and surveillance sensor systems. The staff engineer will be responsible for systems engineering across efforts involving technology insertion, product improvement, engineering and manufacturing system development, production support, troubleshooting, CR resolution, yield improvement, and touch labor reduction initiatives across the product line. The staff engineer will work within multi-disciplinary integrated product teams (IPT). Required Skills: Minimum of 6 years systems engineering experience Demonstrated successful design, development, laboratory and flight qualification, and deployment of EO/IR airborne sensing systems or subsystems Demonstrated successful hardware product ownership and participation on multi-disciplinary engineering design teams Demonstrated production support, troubleshooting, and factory improvement initiative leadership experience Experience developing and controlling the technical baseline of a family of products Experience with airborne systems or product requirements and interface development and management Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, including demonstrated customer interface communication skills U.S. Citizenship and ability to access to US only data systems Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons Desired Skills: Experience with developing supplier statements of work and performance specifications, experience with conducting supplier evaluations, and experience with technical supplier management. Experience with EO/IR laboratory and factory test systems development Experience with EO/IR systems performance analysis Earned Value Management Control Account Management experience Small engineering team leadership experience Experience with governed product family and open systems architecture development. Experience with airborne signal processing hardware and software development, including secure computing and/or safety critical systems development. Experience with export/import (EXIM) technical evaluations and licensing Required Education: (This is the minimum level of education or degree and major required for the position.) B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering Desired Education: (This would be any additional education and/or major that would be considered.)
