Customer satisfaction and commitment to superior quality of service are our top business priorities, along with investing in and supporting our partners and employees.

We are a true International IT provider and are proud to deliver our services through global simplicity with trusted transparency.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As a Fiber Optic Quality Assurance Specialist, you will ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all fiber optic splicing, testing, and installation activities across the organization’s projects and maintenance operations. This role is critical to maintaining operational excellence, client satisfaction, and network reliability through rigorous auditing, testing verification, and continuous improvement. You will ensure all fiber infrastructure work meets industry standards, project specifications, and company benchmarks, supporting a culture of precision, accountability, and technical development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Auditing & Inspection

  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc quality audits of fiber optic splicing work (fusion and mechanical) to ensure adherence to design specifications, workmanship standards, and safety requirements.
  • Inspect and evaluate the entire splicing process — including fiber preparation, stripping, cleaving, cleaning, termination, and enclosure assembly.
  • Review splice trays, closures, and patch panels for correct fiber routing, bend radius, labeling, and protection.
  • Audit mass fusion (ribbon) splicing and high-count cable work for consistency and alignment with accepted practices.
  • Verify and interpret OTDR, OLTS, and power meter test results to confirm optical link performance.
  • Conduct onsite inspections (scheduled and random) across data centers, OSP/ISP sites, and field projects to assess workmanship, compliance, and safety.
  • Flag non-conformances, deviations, or workmanship deficiencies and provide detailed corrective action recommendations.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive QA/QC records for all splicing audits, including site checklists, test result verifications, and photographic evidence.
  • Produce structured audit reports, highlighting key findings, trends, and compliance status.
  • Review and approve final as-built documentation, ensuring test results, splice maps, and labeling align with project deliverables.
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) related to splicing quality, turnaround, and defect rates.
  • Provide feedback and insights to project managers, quality leads, and engineering teams to drive ongoing performance improvement.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify recurring quality issues, workmanship variances, or systemic weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of splicing standards, installation procedures, and QA/QC manuals.
  • Support the creation and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for splicing, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure design intent and field execution are fully aligned.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safe, high-quality work.
  • Participate in pre- and post-project quality reviews, offering recommendations for continuous improvement.

Technical Support & Training

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to splicing and testing teams on QA/QC best practices.
  • Support onboarding and certification programs for new splicers, testers, and technicians.
  • Conduct refresher sessions and toolbox talks on quality, documentation accuracy, and testing standards.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) sessions for major network faults, contributing to lessons learned and preventive measures.
  • Offer expert technical input during vendor qualification or contractor performance assessments.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Technical Proficiency

  • Minimum 5+ years’ hands-on experience in fiber optic splicing, testing, and field quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of fusion and mechanical splicing methods, single-mode and multi-mode fiber characteristics, and high-count/ribbon fiber systems.
  • Proficiency in using and interpreting data from OTDR, OLTS, power meters, visual inspection scopes, and fiber identifiers.
  • Skilled at analyzing OTDR traces (including event tables, loss readings, and reflectance levels) to verify fiber link integrity and identify anomalies.
  • Familiarity with connector types (LC, SC, MPO, MTP) and fiber protection systems (heat-shrink, mechanical sleeves, splice trays).

Quality & Compliance Expertise

  • In-depth understanding of industry standards and frameworks: ITU-T G.652/G.657, FOA, BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and relevant client-specific standards.
  • Proven experience developing or enforcing QA/QC checklists, acceptance criteria, and audit methodologies.
  • Experience in reviewing and validating as-built documentation, test certificates, and optical budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform objective quality evaluations and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems or similar frameworks is advantageous.

Analytical & Reporting Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex technical data, detect patterns, and identify root causes.
  • Proficiency in generating clear, data-driven audit and performance reports.
  • Accuracy and consistency in documenting findings and presenting actionable insights.
  • Ability to translate technical quality findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Soft Skills & Professional Attributes

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to precision in every aspect of quality assessment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams — field technicians, engineers, and project managers.
  • Confidence to challenge non-compliance diplomatically, maintaining professionalism and fostering improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple audits and reporting cycles concurrently.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently across multiple sites.

Technical Tools & Systems

  • Experience with digital QA/QC reporting platforms, fiber management databases, and document control systems.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and data visualization/reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or network mapping software is an advantage.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • FOA CFOT, CFOS/T, BICSI Technician, or equivalent certification.
  • OEM manufacturer training (e.g., Corning, AFL, Sumitomo).
  • Experience auditing splicing or testing work within data centers, metro networks, or hyperscale infrastructure environments.
  • Previous experience in a QA/QC, inspection, or auditing role within fiber, telecoms, or utilities sectors.
  • Background in project coordination or technical supervision.
