Maxar is seeking a Geospatial Data Scientist to become a member of our Geospatial Production team. As a valued team member, you will assist our customers in executing their global mission with expert understanding and applicability of their geospatial data.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues): 

  • Undertake statistical analyses to enhance data processing, manipulate large scale data sets, and provide analytic insights.
  • Engage in a collaborative environment with your peers to share expertise and develop innovative concepts.
  • Research methods in remote sensing and machine learning to improve efficiency and increase value to our customers
  • Work closely with the customer and team lead on quick-turn RFIs to decision makers.
  • Learn new methodologies and skillsets on the job that can contribute to the mission.
  • Engage with the wider Maxar community to learn about Maxar products and projects that may be applicable to the mission area.

Minimum requirements for this position: 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Master's degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), or related discipline (6 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree)
  • Knowledge of ERDAS Imagine 2018+ and/or Esri ArcGIS scripting
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience producing NGA standard and non-standard products and datasets, specifically including prior experience working on Maxar land and ground cover projects 
  • Experience building machine learning, statistical, or time series models informed by remotely sensed data
  • Handle complexity, ambiguity, and shifting priorities with ease. Display a willingness to play the role needed for project success
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members in an online setting.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information Science (GIS), Computer Science, related technical field or related discipline
  • Subject matter expert in remote sensing or areas of study
  • Proven track record of building and managing strong collaborative relationships
  • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Consistent track record of delivering key metrics, high level of energy, commitment, optimism, and passion for the business
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on customer, project, and team needs

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$96,000.00 – $160,000.00 annually.
