Job Description

This position is a hybrid work schedule, the ideal schedule will be coming into the office 1 day per week and working remotely 4 days per week.

What will I be doing?

The Sr Engineer Systems is responsible for maintaining an enterprise production infrastructure that includes both on premise and Cloud components, including but not limited to, Windows servers VMWare ESXi , Nutanix AHV and Active Directory, Citrix Presentation Server/MetaFrame, and Windows Terminal Services. Lead assigned projects and provide strategic direction regarding operational systems architecture and deployment.

You will be responsible for driving company success through performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Participate in a wide range of IT functions from system engineering, testing, and implementation to daily operational system support.
  • Lead analysis of server and storage environment and work to create proactive changes in support of KPIs
  • Work and Mentor others in the team to ensure a tightly integrated and functional team
  • Resolve incidents affecting the operation/availability of high-profile production systems.
  • Deep VMWare knowledge
  • Microsoft Azure troubleshooting
  • Install, configure and maintain servers running Microsoft Windows Server OS (including server’s roles and features).
  • Maintain and modify scripts to support business processes.
  • Must be proficient in Powershell
  • Manage and administer both on-prem and cloud server and storage infrastructure
  • Analyze system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions.
  • Define and document standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform migrations / installations / upgrades of operating systems and other applications on-premises and in the public cloud.
  • Manage and document assigned projects to ensure appropriate support.
  • Participate in enterprise Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity Recovery planning and offsite system recovery exercises.
  • Resolution of 3rd level application, hardware and system support issues.
  • Create GPOs’ and manage Active Directory.
  • Support our Hyperconverged Environment.
  • Create standards, policies and security/audit procedures for application servers, including baseline standards, repeatable build, and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • 3+ years design, implementation and support experience in an enterprise MS Windows Active Directory environment.
  • 5+ years VMware/ESX design, implementation, and support experience.
  • 3+ years in design, implementation and support of Hybrid Cloud environments
  • 4+ years system administration and problem resolution experience including GPO creation, troubleshooting File and Print services, DHCP, DNS, IIS, ISA, WEB and SPAM filtering technology.
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Strong knowledge of VMWare /ESX technology.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficient in Powershell
  • Enterprise Back-Up and Disaster Recovery experience.
  • Experience with Change Management, Configuration management methodology and ITIL framework procedures.
  • Windows/Active Directory Scripting and security experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
