What does an IT Technical Systems Analyst or Senior Analyst do for us?

 

Analyst Level:

With moderate supervision, this Technical Systems Analysts works as a member of our custom application development team.  The Technical Systems Analyst works with our business partners and end users on requirements gathering and analysis.  They then work with our technical teams to design applications to fulfill those requirements leveraging tools such as wireframes and process flows. Their primary functions include solution assessment and validation; elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements; design and documentation of solution(s); end user support; moderate troubleshooting and issue resolution; development and maintenance of basic reports and queries; basic system configuration. This job resides within the IT Organization.

 

Senior Level:

With minimal supervision, this Senior Technical System Analyst works on custom application development solutions with strong business process and end to end technical knowledge.  The Technical Systems Analyst works with our business partners and end users on requirements gathering, analysis and process improvement.  They then work with our technical teams to design applications to fulfill those requirements leveraging tools such as wireframes, process flows, and basic table or application design.  Their primary functions include: Act as the main liaison between technologists and stakeholders. Establish and maintain relationship with the designated business partners to support strategic objectives; facilitate solution assessment and validation and elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements; translate and align solutions to meet IT strategy and business objectives; analyze and assist the business with defining and/or designing new business solutions design and documentation of solution(s); support for end users; advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution; development and maintenance of complex reports and queries; system configuration and prototyping
Understands complex technology and applications and has experience with a multitude of business processes and information systems. This job resides within the IT Organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Analyst Level:

Knowledge of:

·         Understanding of business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, elicitation, communication, analysis, application functionality and process modeling

Prefer:

o   Experience with agile scrum development methodologies.  Experience with creating technical design specifications such as wireframes or process documents.  Experience developing reports, dashboards, and queries.

Skills in:

·         Moderate skills in requirements management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements, good verbal and written communication skills, meeting facilitation and negotiation. Ability to create and maintain business relationships. Basic skills in problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing expectations.

Prefer:

o   Basic SQL capabilities.  Proven experience with implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions.

Ability to:

·         Manage projects/initiatives through business case development and requirements management. Interact and communicate clearly with technical personnel and project stakeholders. Aligning and fusing the business and IT strategies. Ability to focus on the details without losing overall perspective of the larger goal.

·         Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create solutions that meets business objectives.  Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end user and facilitate resolution by technical resources.

 

Senior Level:

Knowledge of:

·         Strong understanding of business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, requirements elicitation, communication, analysis, advanced application functionality and process modeling. Experience with Agile Scrum development and predictive project management methodologies.  Experience with creating technical design specifications.  Experience developing reports, dashboards, and queries.

Skills in:

·         Proven skills in requirements management from planning to execution, developing and tracking project requirements, excellent verbal and written communication skills, meeting facilitation and negotiation. Ability to create and maintain business relationships. Strong skills in problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing stakeholder expectations.  Basic SQL capabilities.  Proven experience with implementation of ERP systems and/or custom developed solutions.

Ability to:

·         Logical reasoning and analysis

·         Sound judgment and decision making

·         Understand table structures

·         Gather business requirements, interpret technical specifications and relate them to system functionality

·         Facilitate work sessions with stakeholders to design or redesign business processes to meet requirements

·         Manage assigned project tasks

·         Manage multiple technology projects/initiatives

·         Communicate clearly with technical personnel along with all levels of business leadership and project stakeholder

·         Effectively translate business requirements into design specifications that can be leveraged by a developer to create a solution that meets business objectives.  Proactively identify potential issues before they impact end users. Respond promptly and professionally to issues identified by end users, assist in identification and implementation of resolution.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Analyst Level:

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field of an equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications.

Experience:

·         2 – 4 years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 1 year business analyst experience.

 

Senior Level:

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications.

Experience:

·         5+ years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 3 years business analyst experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
