InfoVista Network Administrator

Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a candidate to fill a Senior InfoVista Network Performance Management Administrator position supporting DISA’s GSM-O contract at Scott AFB, IL. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and configuration of the Enterprise level Network Performance Management systems. The primary supported tool is InfoVista but other associated tools include Redseal, Tivoli NetCool, Arcsight and other network monitoring tools. Provides support on a M-F business hours schedule, also responsible for on-call, extended hour, and weekend support as required by mission or emergency situations. Approximately 10% of the job will require domestic and international travel. Work is performed based on the customer Accepted Level of Performance (ALP). Candidate will perform within a fixed price, performance-based environment where performance is based on pre-determined Service Level Agreement’s (SLA’s) or Acceptable Levels of Performance (ALP’s). Candidate is required to support the development, documentation and tracking of measurements and metrics relevant to the ALP’s.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Be able to work in a rapid paced environment and must be able to work independently.
– Performs installation, administration, management, configuration, and testing tasks required to support InfoVista network performance tools supporting critical DoD networks.
– Configure network tools to provide up-to-date operational and performance status of managed networks and devices
– Setting up administrator and service accounts, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
– Troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex system/application issues.
– Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
– Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
– Application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.
– Provides coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff.
– Provides support on a M-F business hours schedule, also responsible for on-call, extended hour, and weekend support as required by mission or emergency situations.
Typical Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education

– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline and 4+ years of work experience with InfoVista Network Performance Management products required. 4+ years of additional related years of experience is accepted in lieu of a degree.

– Strong knowledge in InfoVista Network Performance Management.

– Knowledge and experience in architecting, design and implementation of InfoVista Network Performance Management solutions

– Excellent knowledge in Event Management process and should have experience in Integrating InfoVista Network Performance Management tools.

– Ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex system/application issues.

– Experienced in writing automated scripts in UNIX and Windows OS for maintaining the health of the applications.

– Assist with the integration with other NMS and external ticketing systems.

– Prepare and submit change requests, user guides, training guides and other required documentation in support of capabilities for the InfoVista system.

– Ability to work with Operations to identify network performance thresholds and improvement opportunities to apply to applicable applications.

– Assist with deploying InfoVista on LANs, WANs, and other related networking infrastructure supporting Network Services.

– Application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.

– Currently possess an active Secret security clearance and the ability to acquire a security clearance is required for this position.

– Currently possess DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g. Security+ce.Preferred Skills and Education – Integration of Network Management (NM) and Element Management (EM) systems with network performance, trouble ticketing, and security subsystems highly desired.
– Experience with support systems to include enclave Ethernet switches, storage area networks (SAN), and network attached storage (NAS).
– Candidates with a thorough knowledge of networking principles to included TCP/IP a plus.
– Experience with a ticketing system such as BMC Remedy.
– ITIL v3 Foundation certified
– Linux environment experience
– Windows Server experience
– Experience working with virtual environments
