The House of Representatives is seeking a Junior Software Developer with a background in database administration, programming, and technical support. As a Junior Software Developer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and securing all internal and external facing web applications, as well as other in-house applications. The Junior Software Developer maintains, organizes, and secures all new and existing databases. The Junior Software Developer will also provide technical support for users on an as needed basis to troubleshoot issues that arise.

Junior Software Developer responsibilities

– Maintain internal and external web applications

– Develop, implement, and troubleshoot internal software programs

– Maintain and improve the performance of existing software programs

– Design and update software database(s)

– Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization

– Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues

– Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary

– Participate in IT Helpdesk support and problem resolution

Junior Software Developer qualifications and skills

– College Degree or Vocational education in related field

– Knowledge of State government operations and workflow preferred

– Ability to learn new technologies as necessary

– 2+ years’ experience in web and software development

– Demonstrated knowledge of programming and web technologies, such as Visual Basic, Visual FoxPro, .NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript

– Demonstrated knowledge of database technologies and best practices

– Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively

– Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and IT

– Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary

– Excellent communication skills

– Strong attention to detail
