We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist for our R&D group in Omaha, Nebraska!
Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite fitness center. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state-of-the-art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top of the line culinary kitchen, and pilot plant capabilities.
As the Lead Data Scientist, reporting to the Senior Director of R&D, you will provide data analysis and modeling for the Research & Development (R&D) function to influence business decisions and drive results towards Conagra’s growth objectives. You will work on a variety of high-visibility projects to apply advanced analytics, data modeling and machine learning concepts, collaborate cross-functionally, and create recommendations and solutions to solve business challenges.
What else you'll do:
Work within the R&D Digital team to mine and analyze networked and time-series data sets and create advanced algorithms to generate insights to improve business operations and outcomes
Develop and deploy models, simulation models, and other advanced analytics solutions to enable data-driven decision making to meet goals
Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to drive data standards, data-governance, data-science best practices, solution innovation, and future solution needs
Help establish and evolve data science capabilities for the R&D function, including our data architecture and ML Ops practices
Apply detailed programming language experience (SQL, Python, R, Scala, Julia, etc.), data derivation/inference/scraping techniques and algorithms as necessary
Build models and dashboards in a cutting edge, cloud-based ecosystem with tools such as TensorFlow, Snowflake, Databricks, Plotly-Dash, PowerBI, etc.
Communicate technical needs to technology partners by clearly and concisely presenting findings and recommendations to the business in a way that is meaningful to leaders in multiple functions
Continuously deliver high quality analytics, algorithms, and models with a focus on driving results
Keep abreast of the latest developments and cutting-edge technologies for data science
What you'll need to be successful:
Master's degree in statistics, econometrics, machine-learning, applied mathematics or related quantitative field and 4+ years of experience. Or Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Statistics, or other related quantitative discipline with 7+ years of experience developing and applying operational research models, simulation models, data mining applications, writing algorithms, advanced analytics, and machine learning
Strong coding skills in python / R / Scala / Julia and knowledge of functional programming
Hands on experience with large scale data processing software such as DataBricks, Spark, or similar applications.
Experience with drawing conclusions and solving problems from a combination of large, complex datasets
Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
