Oversees Job Description — Job Summary FreeWheel is looking for passionate Lead Software Engineers to help design, build and support our high-quality, innovative video advertising platform. This position is based in New York. FreeWheel helps the television industry to monetize their premium contents through a robust technology platform, which enables consumers to view high quality videos on any devices including PC, smart phone, OTT device, set-top box and traditional TV. FreeWheel’s New York Engineering Hub is a core part of our global engineering group that is building the one-stop solution for TV industry to manage its billion-dollar revenue. Our tech platform is capable of handling billions of daily requests, processing terabytes of raw daily data, and optimizing clients’ business.

Job Description — Responsibilities:


  • Be responsible for the complete lifecycle of software development of the whole team, including designing, prototyping, implementation, testing, maintenance and technical support.
  • Master technical direction and make right decision on technical issues.
  • Lead the team on continuously delivering features with high quality for the goal of company.
  • Produce technical specifications and determine operational feasibility.
  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code.
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Document and maintain software functionality.
  • Tailor and deploy engineering tools, processes and metrics.


  • Support overall business.
  • Solve issues in both technical and operational way.
  • Manage team supporting jobs including alerts, escalations and their dealing progress.

Innovation and Cooperation:

  • Serve as the expert of online advertising industry and drive the industry with continuous technical innovation.
  • Partner with global engineering, product and operations teams to further incorporate collective innovations.
  • Mentor junior and senior level software engineers.
  • Discover and use efficient method to improve the technical level of the whole team.

Job Description – About You / Qualification:

  • Extensive experience in advertising industry, have knowledge of processes and implementation scheme in advertising monetization, especially computational advertising.
  • Extensive experience in developing and maintaining Ad Serving system, including infrastructure (such as Data Transformation and Transportation, Impression and Budget Management, Logging and Generating Ad Delivering Reporting Data, etc.), business (such as Dynamic Ad Selection, RTB, DSP, SSP, Ad Exchange, etc.), and multiple media integration (such as Digital Platform, TV, VOD, etc.).
  • 5+ years’ experience with Linux C/C++/Golang, DB design, network programming and large/distributed mission-criticalsystemsdesignand development
  • 2+ years’ experience as a technical lead.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with front-end development and integration is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
  • Strong passion with learning/practicing new technics.
  • Abundant knowledge onSDLC, Agile and Software Engineering Methodology.
  • Good team working skills, good communication skills, willingness to work under pressure.
  • Have strong ability and persistency on technical support at any time when issues occur.
  • Have strong ability to work close with global teams and accept additional working time besides normal working hours to have meeting or co-working with global teams.


Bachelor's Degree or above.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
  • Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
  • Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Review literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

National Pay Range: $105,722.82 USD-$247,787.85 USD

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
