TRC is seeking a talented Lead System Administrator to join one of our construction clients for an onsite role in Decatur, GA. 

The Senior Systems Administrator leads the administration and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability across on-premises and cloud environments. This role includes mentoring technical staff, driving automation initiatives, and implementing best practices for system reliability and security. The position also leads complex initiatives such as infrastructure integrations related to mergers and acquisitions to support organizational growth.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly technical, and passionate about designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient infrastructure aligned with business needs. This role emphasizes automation, hybrid cloud integration, and requires extensive experience with Microsoft Azure.

TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT

  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure; AWS (S3) for select workloads

  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Azure

  • Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS)

  • Networking: Enterprise firewall, SASE, VPN, and networking platforms

  • Automation & Device Management: PowerShell, Intune

  • Monitoring: Enterprise monitoring and alerting platforms

  • Security: Active Directory, endpoint protection, zero-trust networking, vulnerability management tools

  • ITSM / Helpdesk: Enterprise service management platform

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead administration of Windows and Linux server environments, Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, and Intune configurations and policies.

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure, including IaaS and PaaS resources, networking, and storage.

  • Apply Microsoft and industry best practices to cloud implementations, including cloud-native and lift-and-shift scenarios.

  • Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell.

  • Manage and optimize virtualization platforms and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Partner with security stakeholders to design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.

  • Ensure secure and high-performing network architectures, including firewall, VPN, and SASE configurations.

  • Monitor system performance and reliability; proactively identify, prevent, and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and professional development for systems administration staff.

  • Collaborate with application and security teams to mitigate risk and maintain compliance with security standards.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in systems administration (Windows and Linux).

  • Advanced, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (e.g., landing zones, virtual desktops, monitoring, performance optimization).

  • Strong expertise in VMware, Active Directory/Entra ID, and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS).

  • Advanced understanding of networking fundamentals and security best practices.

  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Intune).

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools and incident response processes.

  • Hands-on experience with Intune and Windows Autopilot administration.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Industry certifications such as Microsoft (Windows Server, Azure), VMware VCP, Security+, or similar.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
