POSITION SUMMARY

The Steamboat Lift Maintenance team is looking for an engineer that is self-motivated and willing to learn. Experience in programming, SCADA, and electrical troubleshooting preferred. This role is pivotal to the safety of our guests and the efficient operation of our ski lifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for aiding in the monitoring and maintenance of all lift electrical equipment to ensure the safest and most reliable lift operation possible
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of Ski Lift SCADA system to ensure sufficient supervision of all lift functions
  • Responsible for competent programming of Ski Lift PLCs and HMIs (with a focus on Allen Bradley PLCs, ABB PLCs, Red Lion HMIs)
  • Responsible for programming and maintenance of DC and AC Drives (with a focus on ABB DCS800, DCS880 and ACS880) including PID Tuning
  • Will be involved in the installation of lift control systems on new and existing lifts
  • Must complete scheduled maintenance on time and complete work orders on all maintenance activities performed
  • Must maintain an understanding of the current rules and regulations of the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board and other applicable agencies including ANSI B77.1-2022
  • Must become proficient at starting stalled ski lifts; assist in running lifts under auxiliary power and following lift failure and evacuation procedures
  • Must continually demonstrate a willingness and motivation to learn and develop the job skills that are specific to the types of equipment that must be maintained
  • Must be able to work well within a team to create a positive work environment in a high volume, and at times, stressful position
  • May work nights and weekends during the summer and winter seasons as needed.
  • Must maintain an inventory of hand tools required in the performance of electrical maintenance and construction duties to include a digital multimeter
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to read and write the English language
  • Must be able to operate snowmobiles under adverse conditions (will provide training)
  • Must have the ability to use small hand tools and electronic testing equipment.
  • Formal training in electronics and lift electrical maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to adhere to all company Safety policies

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $30.00 – $38.00 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to climb lift towers and be able to work at heights greater than 50 feet
  • Must have the ability to lift approximately 50 pounds
  • Must be able to drive an automobile, pick-up truck, van and snowmobile
  • Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
