Mechanical Test Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer to join our Shelby team!

As our Mechanical Test Engineer you will design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment. You will also prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products.

Your Challenge

  • Design, configure, program and operate laboratory special test equipment (testers or rigs), data acquisition & control equipment, and sensors to control test execution and collect data in laboratory or tests to make precision measurements.
  • Develop hardware test plans & procedures, execute tests in a laboratory environment, and evaluate resulting test data in support of aerospace control actuation and electric motor control system for performance characterization and model validation.
  • Create, schedule, and perform development and acceptance tests to meet Customer requirements.
  • Reviews and evaluates test failures, in-process rejections and trends, recommending corrective action as appropriate.
  • Provides assistance in the areas of predictability, manufacturing processing, equipment and process improvement.
  • Model, simulate and then validate high-fidelity physics-based electromechanical actuation system models through test and evaluation of modeled hardware in support of design engineering team.
  • Collect test data, review data and compile test report.
  • Participate in the design, integration and test of prototype electromechanical fixtures used to test and evaluate aircraft control actuation systems.
  • Experience with aerospace standards such as RTCA-DO-160, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 is a plus.

What You Bring

  • Due to the nature of work performed in this position, US Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aerospace engineering degree required.
  • Oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office, LabVIEW and Mathlab preferred. Organization, and presentation skills. Ability to handle multiple opportunities and meet strict deadlines.
  • 3-5 years' experience in hardware testing and data acquisition, and control of actuation, or related electromechanical systems. Basic understanding of active and passive electronics.
  • 3-5 years experience product development, product testing, or testing equipment.
