Job Summary:

The Network Administrator is responsible for providing technical expertise in the management of a public and/or private network; tests and analyzes network facilities, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters, and servers. Installs, supports, and/or maintains LANs and/or WANs; evaluates and recommends networking products and software upgrades. Performs technical analyses of software, hardware, and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations. Monitors data traffic and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves technical problems related to network failure/ integrity and usage of PC hardware and software.

Also works as part of the Systems Administration team, which is accountable for the overall support and maintenance of server and data center architecture, systems analysis, and communications infrastructure. Is responsible for performing routine administration activities, such as monitoring performance, installing patches and systems upgrades, scheduling and running jobs. This is an intermediate-level job and is expected to operate independently while executing mainly routine or straightforward assignments. Continues to demonstrate growth and learning in acquiring knowledge and experience with multiple operating environments.

Job Description:

Major Responsibilities :

  • Design and troubleshoot site-level network equipment (e.g., firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers, and vendor appliances) to maximize performance, security, and reliability. Understand cloud network architecture.
  • Performs routine maintenance procedures as well as troubleshooting and repair of servers, applications, and related hardware and software (Windows server, Azure Stack HCI, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, M365, GPO, DNS, DHCP, DFS)
  • Lead and participate in site-level and enterprise-wide projects with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Design processes, policies, and procedures supporting internal controls, cybersecurity, and data protection of sensitive data. Examples include but are not limited to IT General Controls (ITGCs), Managed Access (MA-xx), Managed Operations (MO-xx), and Change Management (CM-xx); Sarbanes Oxley/SOx; Data backup, recovery, and classification; Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM).
  • Follows established policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks. Supports standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions across enterprise-wide hardware and software applications.
  • Provides support to end users and IT teams by assisting with incidents and requests
  • Participates in enterprise-wide disaster recovery testing
  • Monitors system backups, replication, and server performance (Commvault)
  • Monitors system logs and monitoring systems to ensure proper functioning of the server and security functions
  • Participates in regular server patching and maintenance
  • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours support

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology or related field, with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in information technology, including Cisco equipment, Windows servers.
  • Experience with software-defined networks (SD-WAN) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft’s Azure Stack HCI / cloud / M365 environment preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Commvault backup solution.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Microsoft, Commvault, and CompTIA Network+ certification an asset.
